Simple Watercolour Background technique

Hi There.

I have a video to share with you today.  I created some nice easy Background sheets ready for cards, Project Life Cards or just Layouts.  Lots of fun, with no rules.....and every one turns out different!
See the process in the video below

I used several different paints with in the Shimmerz Ranges....Some new colours in the Coloringz Collection,
Some of the new Inklingz, and some Dimensionz.  They all turned out great!
Stop Back again soon to see what my backgrounds became!

Thanks for stopping in today

let's have some tea!

I'm a great tea-lover so today I have this teapot to share with you.
No plan, just playing with all those gorgeous Shimmerz colors! :)

The teapot got two coats of gesso first.
I randomly applied the paints and watered them to let them run.

I used these colors:
Shimmerz: Bubble gum
Shimmerz: Sugar Plum
Shimmerz: Pink
Shimmerz: Magenta
Shimmerz: Marigold

When the paint is still a bit wet, I applied some gesso.
Took a tooth-pick and made these fun shapes.
Really love this effect!

The small mini roses were also painted with the Shimmerz.

Another close-up of the paints and gesso.
Love the way the gesso makes little cracks!
This could easily be an awesome background for any project, don't you think!

Enjoy your day!

Hello Pretty Girl with Amy Prior

Hi everyone! Amy Prior back with you all again today to share not one, but two scrapbook layouts that I have recently created using lots of gorgeous Shimmerz products including some of the amazing new colours that are available.

For this first layout, I have added some Gesso to my background cardstock using a fabulous Prima Marketing Stencil to start off a subtle pattern. I have used my cheap glossy Gesso as I find this will resist the water based paint products whereas my good artist quality Gesso is Matte and won't work as a resist. You could also use White cheap acrylic paint for the same effect.

When the Gesso was completely dry, I have added a lot of water to create a pool on the centre of the page before adding random bits of colour starting with Shimmerz Inklingz As Good As Gold, followed by Shimmerz Inklingz Gosh Garnet and then Shimmerz Inklings Blue My Mind. I just love the 2 tone effect of these amazing paints and they just look so glorious in real life, the photos never seem to do the colour and shimmer justice.

The chipboard frame around the photo was also coloured using Shimmerz Inklingz in the same colours that were used in the background. I also added some Crackle Paint to the chipboard for a bit more interesting texture.

This next layout was created on Black Cardstock for something different. I have added lots of gorgeous Shimmerz Dazzlerz in Spun Sugar through a Prima Marketing Flower stencil randomly all over the background. As I moved the stencil around, the messy underside left lots of smudges of patterns but I kinda like the effect.

Lots of gorgeous layers were added including paper, doilies, lace and stickers then I have finished off the layout with a Blue Fern Studios Chipboard frame that was painted using the new Shimmerz Inklingz Angels Kiss as well as my fave colour Beets Me. I have also painted the Prima resin frame using Shimmerz Inklingz Angels Kiss.

Shabby Chic Wall Art

Hi Shimmerz fans! Gabrielle here with you today to share something a little bit different.  I love browsing Pinterest, lots of inspiring artwork to be found there.  I've been admiring the fashion drawings of Katie Rodgers and thought I'd like to try doing a little fashion sketch using my Shimmerz Paints.

Here are the Shimmerz Products I used for this project:

~ Tuscan Sun Spritz
~ Pumped Up Purple Coloringz (NEW)
~ Cotton Candy Spritz
~ Hot Fudge Vibez
~ Shades of Grey Coloringz (NEW)
~ Peek-a-boo Pink Inklingz
~ Imperial Amethyst Inklingz (NEW)
~ Blue My Mind Inklingz
~ Pugnacious Purple Inklingz

As always, I've created a video tutorial to show this project from start to finish...sketching out the design, painting it to completion.  Enjoy!....

I hope you enjoyed watching the process, ...here are a few close-ups of the project to enjoy at your leisure...

One of my favorite parts of this project was using the masking fluid with the water color paints, and then rubbing it off to the the almost glittery look to the dress.

I couldn't resist adding a bit of texture to the design with some texture paste and a stencil....then giving the design a wash of  a variety of colors from the Inklingz collections.

I framed this project and will be giving it as a gift for my beautiful sister for her home office.  She has a bright and pretty shabby chic theme going in her office so I thought this would be a nice surprise for her.

Before I sign off for today I just wanted to make sure you are all aware of the amazing sale going on at the Shimmerz Store, they have 5 beautiful Seasonal Sets for a reduced package price, along with a Special offer.....

With any purchase of $50.00 or more you get the above gift set for FREE!  And don't forget, if you mention my name "Gabrielle" in your message to seller, you will get a FREE/Bonus Shimmerz product in the color of your choice!  How awesome is that!

Thanks for stopping by the Shimmerz Blog today, I hope I've inspired you to get your paints out and play! xo

Going Cuckoo over Inklingz with Amy Prior

Hi Shimmerz fans! Amy Prior back with you all again today to share an off the page project that I have created using tonnes of gorgeous Shimmerz paint products. I just love the beautiful colors of Shimmerz paints. For this project I have used Shimmerz Inklingz & Texturez paints but I could have used so many more.

This Raw MDF Clock was painted with some Gesso to prime before adding blobs and splodges of Shimmerz Inklingz and Texturez all over the place.

The stunning Blue Fern Studio chipboard pieces were also painted using Shimmerz Inklingz and a little bit of colour was added to the Prima Resin pieces as well. My favourite Inklingz by far is Beets Me but Meet Me @ Sunset and Me & Blue are very close second faves.

For some added texture and contrast, I have added some of the Tidy Widy Shimmerz Texturez to the tips of all the petals as well as random places all over the clock. Tidy Widy is again another major fave of mine.

Shimmerz paint products used...
Inklingz in Beets Me, Meet Me @ Sunset, Me and Blue, First Blush, Freshly Minted, Pink-a-Boo.
Texturez in Tidy Widy.

Thanks so much for stopping by, don't forget to checkout the amazing new Seasonal Sets in the Shimmerz store here. Type my name into the Notes to Merchant section when checking out using Paypal, and you will receive a free gift!

Today I want to share a mixed media card I created for Shimmerz. I realized that I haven't shown my love to those gorgeous yummy shimmerz little paint pots for awhile, so I took them out and used them on this card :) The super beautiful color and creaminess reminded me how much I love them.

Hope you like it! scroll down for video tutorial.

I did a lot of splattering and even stamped using a splatter stamp. I like the background to have lots of texture :)

Here is the tutorial:

cake and card

There is always something to celebrate!
Today I would like to share this cake and card.
Made these cakes before but I can't help myself, they are so much fun to make!

For these projects I used the following paints:
Coloringz: Mama sings the blues
Spritz: Treasured Hymn
Vibez: Jen b blue
Shimmerz: Butter cream
Shimmerz: Tickle me turquoise
Shimmerz: Antique lace

This chipboard cake got 2 coats of gesso before adding the paints.
The horizontal sides got a coat of Glass beads paste from Liquitex.

String of pearls around the circles.

Some prima flowers I had in my stash for a long time.

The Glass Beads paste with a touch of gesso.

The two big flowers and the mini roses were painted with the Shimmerz paints.

Applied the paints and let them run by adding some water.

And here is my card:
Created the background with the same Glass Beads paste.

The chipboard butterfly, from Scrap-Unlimited, got two coats of gesso.

Close-up of the lovely texture.

Enjoy your day!
