Love This | Jen McMurtrey

Hey Shimmerz friends!

It's Jen today with a colorful project documenting my love for flowers using the exclusive Shimmerz June cut file.

I love using cut files on my projects and this month's floral design is beautiful. Using white cardstock as my base, I first cut the design before spritzing the following colors on the paper before removing it from the cutting mat.

While the paints were drying, the paper began curling and lifting from the cutting mat. I had intended to only use the flower but loved the negative cuts so much that I glued them down as well.

After gluing the pieces in place, I splattered more of the same Shimmerz colors on the flower and white cardstock.

Using patterned papers, die cuts, and sticker from Simple Stories' I Am collection, I began embellishing the layout.

Next, I pulled some gold Thickers and enamel dots from my stash.

My last step was to type my journaling with a manual typewriter and adhering it to the layout.

I love how the cut file turned out with the Shimmerz Paints - it is lovely.

Right Now | 12x12 Media Layout using Blues and Pinks

Hello there, Lori here!

Popping by to share this Shimmerz-filled 12x12 layout in which I documented a sweet, endearing picture of my son giggling with my husband. I've also bashed a lot of leftover embellishments from my stash. Process Video: https://youtu.be/3l4AAXsYRYQ

Now, let's get started!

I first began with my base. I selected a patterned paper with a light blue scripty pattern on it and sprayed the center of it with Heidi Ho Blue (Coloringz), Jeni B Bleu (Vibez), Cotton Candy (Spritz), and Razzledazzle Berry (Vibez). My blue "cloud" is more predominant because I just wanted pops of pink throughout the layout.

Since I already had my mists with me, I went ahead and colored two doilies (Jeni B Bleu with splatters of Cotton Candy) and 2 cardstocks hearts (Heidi Ho Blue with splatters for Razzledazzle Berry).

Finally, once everything was dry,  I began to assemble my layout. I added in my two doilies diagonal to each other, added my picture (backed with tissue paper and craft foam) on top, and then began to layer in all the other embellishments, making sure to balance out the pink embellishments all around the layout.

And that's it! Thank you so much for looking and reading along. Remember, you can receive a freebie by typing my name (Lorimar) in comments section of your next Shimmerz order.

- Take care,
Lorimar

Encourage One Another | Ericka Strange

Happy 2020! Ericka here and I hope you are having a great start to the new year. Do you make New Year's Resolutions? To be honest, I'm not very good at resolutions, but the last couple of years I've been picking one word for the year. This year it is ENCOURAGE and so today I'm playing with some Vibez sprays and making encouraging card sets.

For my cards, I used the Pinkfresh Studio Floral Square die set paired with the Hero Arts Pinkfresh You Make A Difference stamp set for the sentiments.

I started by spraying Vibez in a variety of pinks using Sweet Heart, Pink Moscato, and RazzleDazzle Berry on watercolor paper. (I'll use the Gray Flannel on another project.)

I die cut the watercolor panels and then alternated using white and black cardstock for the frames and background.

I love all of these these shades of pink and the ways they look on both black and white cardstock. Here are a couple of close ups with the same Vibez colors but different backgrounds.

The shine of all these products is amazing!

I had a small amount of Vibez watercolor paper left so I made one more card using each of the colors.

These cards were so fun and quick to make and I'm hoping to make a couple more sets soon to give to friends and teachers throughout the year.

Feel free to include your word for the year in the comments. I love reading what people have picked and what the word means for them. Thanks for stopping by and check out my blog Strangely Creative for more information on the products I used. Have a wonderful day!

Also don't forget to check out the new January Color Kitz is live and has a beautiful selection of colors for a great price! If you make a purchase, type in ERICKA in the comments and you'll receive a freebie with your order!

Say Hello to Fall with Shimmerz

Hey Shimmerz friends!

I have to admit that when it comes to making cards I am totally on the struggle bus . . . I am not sure what it is, but I find them so difficult to put together. In order to push myself creatively, I have been trying to use new techniques as well as create projects that are out of my comfort zone. Today, I'm sharing this fall-themed greeting card that I made with a mix of beautiful Shimmerz colors along with digital cut files and circle dies.

For the base, I used premade greeting cards from my local craft store. Next, I used two circle dies and cut patterned paper from the Carta Bella Fall Market collection. Each layer of patterened paper was adhered to the base using foam squares with a piece of white cardstock on top of those.

Now to the leaves . . .  these were cut on my Silhouette Cameo 3 using white cardstock. While the leaves were still on the mat - and before I had taken any paper off - I began spritzing them with various Shimmerz colors.

Here's a list of what I used.

Coloringz: My Bleeding Heart
Shimmeringz: Goldie Lox
Texturez: Gold Mine

After the paints had dried, I used a brush to apply Texturez Gold Mine to the center of each one. The effect is so amazing . . . the gold just seems to glow from the centers and the texture makes it really pop.

Next, I added a second leaf cut file to the top of each. I decided early on to focus on the solid background of each leaf for the colors while leaving the tops white. Once they were dried, I nestled them into each of the circle layers with foam squares and tied a ribbon on the bottom.

Last was the Hello sentiment using Thickers and wood dots from my stash.

Here's one last look at the completed card.

I'm thinking there may be more card making in my future!

Gather | Jen McMurtrey

Hello Shimmerz friends!

It's Jen today with a fall-themed layout documenting one of my daughter's sweetest friendships. This project uses several beautiful Shimmerz Paints with die-cut leaves and the Carta Bella Fall Market collection.

Let's take a look at what I used.

When I began this project, I cut several of the leaves using my Silhouette and the Layered Fall Leaves cut file from the Silhouette Store. While the leaves were still on the cutting mat, and before I had peeled away the excess paper, I began spraying the leaves with the various Shimmerz colors. Don't worry, this doesn't affect the stickiness of the mat and makes it much easier to keep everything in place.

To keep the colors from bleeding, I dried each one with my heat tool between coats of paint.

While the leaves were drying, I cut strips of patterned paper and machine stitched them to the woodgrain background paper.

Next, I adhered the leaves and my photo to the page using foam dots.

Die cuts, stickers, and chipboard were layered between the leaves for added dimension while the cork title was placed on the bottom cluster of leaves.

You'll even notice one of the exclusive Shimmerz Dotz embellishments tucked in with leaves.

Last was the journaling, which I typed on my manual typewriter. I love this layout and those leaves turned out better than I could've ever imagined.

Remember - you can pick up your Shimmerz Paints on the new, revamped website! You will  love it!!

Shimmerz Fall Leaves | Ericka Strange

Hello Shimmerz fanz! Who is ready for some fall weather? I am, but unfortunately I also live in Houston, Texas so we're still at 100˚F with no fall weather in sight. But one can dream and play in the A/C craftroom, so it feels a little like fall.

Ericka here and today I have two cards I made with Vibez sprays and some fall leaves from Crackerbox & Suzy Stamps.

For my first card, I used the Vibez sprays as ink. I first spritzed a little spray on my craft mat and then picked up the color with my stamp.

I love the look and it reminds me of doing crayon leaf rubbings when I was young. The Vibez Mustard Seed is my favorite and I love the gold shimmer it has. Once my leaves were dry, I used a little Distress Oxides on the edges in Antique Linen and Espresso.

For my second card, I sprayed the Vibez on some watercolor paper making sure to let each color dry completely before spraying another one. This just helps the colors not to get muddy and blend into each other too much.

Once my background was dry, I used Versamark ink and Brutus Monroe Penny Shimmer embossing powder on my leaves.

Just look at the sparkle these Vibez give any background.

Here are the Vibez products I used: Mustard Seed, Mango Tango, Razzeldazzle Berry, and Princess.

Thanks for stopping by and if you would like more details on how I created my card, feel free to check out my blog Strangely Creative.  Remember that typing code ERICKA in the comments section of your Shimmerz Paints store order will earn you a fun FREEBIE!

http://www.shimmerzpaints.com/shop.php#!/Color-Kitz-The-March-April-Card-Making-Kit/p/132248963/category=33206055
I used several of these colors in the kits in my card today as well as a Pink and Main set called Seeds of Kindness.

I started by stamping the images on some Bristol paper with InkOn3 Fade Out ink so that I could do some no-line watercoloring with my Shimmerz and Vibez. I like to spray a small amount of the Vibez onto my pallet and pick the color up from there.

Once the images were dry, I used the coordinating dies to cut them out. I then used my Silhouette to cut this gorgeous file from Page Evans on some heavy cardstock. I sprayed the heart with some Glorious Day and Jeni B Bleu Vibez to add some color and attached it to some pink cardstock. I love the sparkle and shade mixing these two colors produced. I cut the heart down so that it would fit on my card and look like the heart was growing.

I attached the watercolored images with some 3D glue dots as well as the sentiment from the set. I love this little bunny and the watering can is so pretty.

There you have it, a cute little spring card using this beautiful cut file and a cute set from Pink and Main.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful week! If you want to know more about the products I used feel free to stop over at my blog Strangely Creative.
