Positive Art Journal Spread | Katty Miranda

Hello friends! Katty here to share a fun Art Journal Page with you all. I was in the mood to paint so I pulled out my handy dandy Art Journal. I am using my Daler Rowney Mixed Media Travelbook. I love the size of the pages in this journal, not too big, but enough space for me to get creative. I created a fun and colorful spread.

I began with a stencil and one of my favorite paste-eez in the color Tree Hugger which is a gorgeous teal. The stencil I used looks like pomegranate seeds. I love the texture the Paste-eez and stencil immediately add to my page. It looks pretty all by itself but of course I needed to add lots more color to it.

I pulled out some of my awesome Shimmerz paints in several colors, I used a Coloringz in Mandarin Mai Tai and Pink Stilettos and three Creameez in Trippin in the Tropics, Boogie Boardin Blue, and Lettuce get together. I used a watercolor brush and scattered the colors around the page in between the stenciled image. I mixed it up and added the intense colors in some areas and used a little more water to soften the same colors up in other areas. I love the look of this mix.

I used a black sharpie pen and added some faux stitching around parts of the stenciled image to add some additional interest. I love the detail that the faux stitching adds. I also added some positive coordinating word stickers to finish it off.

Hello Shimmerz friends and a happy and healthy New Year to you! May it have lots of lovely shimmer and shine!!

Well I was super excited about the new AcriTonez acrylic paints, but as they mostly come in very bright colours, and I am not a bright colour girl, I decided to mix a few to make up my own shades.
Super cool, just keep playing until you have just the shade you want...

I created some textures with strips of paper, chip board and lace in one of my art journals, covered parts with gesso and parts with crackle paint and when dry added my colour to it using a brush and a baby wipe to blend.
This is what I used:
AcriTonez in the colours Blue My Top, Pinkadelic, Edgy Eggplant
I mixed them in various quantities until I had the old rose tint I was after, adding some gesso into the mix as well

I deepened the colour in places using some Vibez in the colour Quit Yer Wining

Next all I needed to do was gather some embellishments from my stash, layer them up until I was happy with the result, add some background stamping and a sentiment, and finally add another new product, Paste-Eez in the colour The Cream Team through a stencil and that was pretty much it.

 Here you can see the subtle effect of this colour of Paste-Eez, as well as some bits of old chipboard colours with the same paint mix and some threads for a little additional texture.
