The Missy Whidden June Color Kitz with Paige Evans

I have a new layout to share today featuring The Missy Whidden Color Kitz: June Edition from Shimmerz and the exclusive cut file I designed to go along with it! The colors in this kit are on point. They are beautiful and coordinate so well together.

I had so many ideas for how to use this cut file, I actually started three different layouts. The first one I cut the heart miniature five times and spritzed over them with five different colors. The second one I used a large heart as a stencil and scraped modeling paste through it. The third attempt is the one I ended up finishing: I painted gesso all over the heart while it was still on the mat and then spritzed, splashed, and sprayed the colors all over it.

 

Once everything dried I took the inner pieces and placed them into a new heart on a plain white cardstock background, using dimensional adhesive for extra pop. The edges had curled during the drying process and I didn't try to tack them down, I let them bend up for lots of dimension. Then I machine stitched around the heart three times for a bit of texture.

 

I adhered a photo of my daughter Jane on the right and then created clusters of embellishments using the June Dotz and die cuts from the Indigo & Ivy collection with Pink Paislee. Tiny sequins finish the page up!

 

I can't tell you how much fun I had getting messy with all the Shimmerz Paints! It's so freeing and fun to see how the colors interact and change as they dry. The shimmer and shine that comes through and the texture created from the modeling paste all work together to create something unique that can't be repeated exactly. Every time will be different!
