Finding Joy | Mixed Media Scrapbook Layout

Hey there, Shimmerz Fans!
Lorimar here with another layout inspiration for the blog. For this one I used colors that I had in my stash to accentuate the gorgeous colors from the patterned papers and embellishments. I went for a controlled mixed media look and it's super easy to do.

Since I've been on a paper-tearing binge, I decided to apply the same look here, too.  All of the patterned papers and embellishments are from the Paige Evans Bungalow Lane collection. I selected a blue-patterned paper as my base and then added a strip pretty floral on top followed by another layer of a text-y Kraft patterned paper on top of that one. Then, I placed some wash tape from my stash as added layer of embellishments. Afterwards, I fussy-cut a tag from a cut apart sheet, and prepped my picture for a mat of a yellow patterned paper and craft foam underneath. Once I arranged these on my layout (without sticking them down yet), I made a mark with a white gel pen of where I'd be adding my "peek-a-boos" of mixed media.

For each of these mixed media clusters, I smooshed a bit of white gesso to create a base to then add my colors. The colors which were used were: Frogget Me Not, Pop Art Pink, and Chance Of Rain. Frogget Me Not was added in splashes while the other two were added in splatters. Once the mixed media dried, I placed the tag and photo right in the center of the base and mixed media clusters, and then began building my embellishments clusters. Since I had quite a bit of layers and mixed media playing on the layout, I decided to keep things on the small side for the each of the clusters.

That's it! Thank you so much for joining me today, and I'll see you back soon with another layout. Be sure to write my name "Lorimar" in the comments section of your next Shimmerz order so that you can get a freebie.

Take care,
Lorimar
