Painted Sunflowers|Sara Scraps

Hello Everone! Sara with you today! When I sat down to create my project for today, I decided I wanted to paint..and I wanted to paint a flower. A shimmery, pretty sunflower. The best way to make my sunflower be the star of the show would be to put it on a card.

I started by grabbing some metal dies..painting freehand is not my best ability. Sooo..I decided to die cut my sunflower and leaves using some hot press watercolor paper. this allowed my to add layers of paint to my flower without it warping or becoming too wet and tearing.

Once I had all my pieces die cut it was time to paint! I chose 2 or 3 colors in different shades for each of my flower elements. By choosing different shades of each color I could add highlights and shadows to my flower to create depth to my painting.
For the center of my flower, I chose Burnished Buckle Inklingz and Coffee Shimmerz
For the leaves I chose Celery Shimmerz, Honey Do List Inklingz, and Greener Pastures Inklings. I applied the same technique I would use to color an image with alcohol markers to the painting. started with a base coat of the lighter colors and then adding some shadows with the next two colors, working light to dark.

And here is my card! I used some cream cardstock for the base and some brown ink to bring out the edges. I added a dark burgundy stacked die cut sentiment and a smattering of sequins to highlight my sunflower.
I love how mixing the colors added so much interest and depth to my flower. It certainly does not look flat!
And just look at all that pretty shimmer!
As summer transitions into fall, sunflowers are the perfect late summer flower. Do you like sunflowers in your crafting? If so, be sure to grab some of this paints for perfect sunflowers!
Have A Lovely Day!

Midnight Icecream by Veronika Senova

 Hello Scrappy friends!

Today I have for you layout which started on white cardstock but it doesnt look like that :D I wanted to scrap something from days when to travel was so easy, so I scrolled deeper in my phone memory and found this photo of  Zinka from Cres, Croatia and I knew this was exactly what i looked for :). I wanted to use Contre Courant collection from Ateliers de Karine and photo perfectly match feeling of this collection.

I started with gesso and than I wanted to create night sky so I put Dont Rain on my Parade, Before down, Ahoy Matey and Rip van Periwinkle Vibez on my table and wanted also bit pink so I added Pink Stilettos and Sweet Heart as well. I started with Pinks in the middle of the page and then continue with blues, starting with lighted to darker ones. I added water to perfect shifts between colors and then added bit color again to get this night sky effect.

For perfect finish I added some splatters with Rip van Periwinkle and some silver watercolor from my stash.
I let it all dry and started to build bottom of my layout. I cutted part of vellum for the middle and botom of my page. In between I used grey patterned paper. That was base for my background.

I backed my photo with tissue paper and foam to add dimension I adhered it to my backround in a way that I have space for adding my journaling on bit of paper  under photo. Lately I like this way of adding journaling becouse I can write more and I dont destroy whole layout :D

I fussycutted some small pictures  from another patterned paper and added also few vellum embelishements to my scene. For final touch ,just in time I received few papers from older summer collection from Crate Paper (thank you Janka :)) and again I just fussycutted three little pictures ( lady with dog, umbrela and one of wheels.
At the end I added title, composed from two kind of puffy alphas. And that's it :) Hope you like it and see you next time:)

Shimmerz Paints Design Team Post, an 8x10 Canvas, called Magic In The Air

Hi everyone! Melissa here with a new design team post, an 8x10 canvas, for the amazing Shimmerz       Paints, I love their rich texture and colors!

To make this canvas I first covered the canvas with white gesso.I stenciled on crackle paste. I arranged all the items, including a lot of fussy cut images from Graphic 45 around the page. I added beads, and sprinkled glass glitter on the glue spots. A lot of the items are from Reneabouquets. I used several colors of Shimmerzpaints to paint with. I put gesso on pretty thick in some areas, to make negative space. I wanted a nice balanced composition, so I wound up taking some fussy cut pieces off, and covering up some of the textural things.

I used the following colors: Pixie Dust Blingz plus Shimmerz, Precious Metal, Teal The End Of Time and Peacock's PlumeShimmerz , Blue My MindPenny 4 Your Thoughts, HoneymoonPlum CrazyGreener PasturesImperial Amethyst,Miner Miner 49er,Dear John Letter, and Good As Gold Inklingz. Dear John Letter isn't available anymore.

To add visual interest I added micro beads, seed beads, glass glitter ,glass beads, pearls, rhinestones, swarovski crystals, sequins, glass hearts, tulle, sisal, iridescent wrapping paper,a feather from my yard, a Prima mould shapes, flowers from  Reneabouquets ,and bling and metal from my stash. Most of the things are glued on individually with Glossy Accents. The Beautiful Board is from Reneabouquets.

Thank you so much for looking , and have a great week!

Sunny Days | August Color Kit | Simple Stories | American Crafts | Pebbles by Lorimar Ortega

 Hello Shimmerz Family,

Lorimar here with a Summer-y layout to share with you today. I would consider this layout a mixed media heavy layout, but trust me, the process is simple and so fun to make. I used the August Color Kitz and one extra Shimmerz Paints mist to make this. You can grab the August 2021 Color Kitz here, and the Don't Citron Me here. If, after reading this blog post, you need a more visual exclamation, you can catch my process video here. Remember you can get a freebie on your next Shimmerz Paints order if you write my name "Lorimar" in the comments section.

Alright, so let's get into it.

I started out with a scrap piece of gessoed white cardstock. This is where I'm going to making my affectionately called "mixed media blob" from which I'm going to cut the cutfile (from the Kitz). For this "mixed media blob", I sprayed the Fire and Spice Spitz as my first layer and then splattered Daffodil (Creameez) and Antique Lace (Shimmerz). Set this aside to dry before cutting out the cutfile at roughly 6x6. I cut it up right down the middle to use as two layering pieces beneath two of my embellishment clusters.

Next mayor step was working on my background. Using a gessoed sheet of white textured cardstock, I sprayed Velveteen Green basically all over the page. For some added variation, I sprayed and splashed some Don't Citron Me. Once that was dry, it was on to the embellishments.

For each of the embellishment cluster I used a mixture of stickers, ephemera pieces, foam stickers, and chipboard stickers from Simple Stories Sunkissed, Paige Evans Bloom Street, and Pebbles Sun & Fun collections. I love playing with dimension and layers whenever I make my clusters so the close-ups that follow will show the details of each of them. I tangled up some thread in each of the clusters for a pop of color and texture. To finish up the layout, I splashed a bit of Daffodil and Velveteen Green around the clusters.

That's it! Thank you so much for joining me today.

Sunshine On My Mind | Sara Scraps

Hello Everyone! Sara is here with you today sharing a fun layout and technique. I just love finding new, easy ways to create background papers for my layouts. And my Shimmerz Paints stash is a great starting off point for gorgeous backgrounds.

The supplies for this technique couldnt be easier...some round sponges are all you really need to create this painted circle background!
I used the new Cocoa Vanilla Studios Sunkissed line. I used three shades of aqua /blue hues to mimic the colors of the ocean and then some sparkly sequin details to add a finishing touch to my layout.
Products Used-
For the pinky peach half of my layout, I chose colors that complimented the flowers on my niece's swimsuit as well as the shades of pink in the collection.
I chose-

I just love this technique ! It creates such a gorgeous eye-catching background! Give it a try next time you want to make a customized background for your page. I have a process video including a tutorial on how I created this background and my whole layout for you as well.

Escape by Veronika Senova

 Hello scrappy friends!

today I have for you three photo layout with beautiful perspextive by Bramblefox. It inspired me to whole layout. I had this three photos of Marina running to me and I was thinking if I can use Ecsape as a title with them.( couse she is not obviously escaping from me😂) but then I thought what story I want to tell with photos and it all together gave perfect sense to me. So after this big introdution let's go to scrappy process of this layout😊

This time I didnt add gesso, because I wanted to have light watercolor feeling, and didnt want to use lot of layers. I so love when pictures are kind of part of bacground so i put out my blues and greens and tried to find most matchy colors. For blues I went for Snowy Way Men and Frost Bite and for green I chose Evergreen.

I added bit of each color to my WRMK working pad and with light dipping my spatula to color and just adding it to my backround paper created grass sky feeling of my background. It was just stripes of color but together it created very nice effect. Then I decided to create white clouds with white acryl color and some of them also mixed with Frost Bite Vibez.

All together it created soft dreamy background so I decided keep this layout simple just with few embelishements. I addes dimension to photos with foam and for title I used perspextive "Escape" which i mentioned before. I was looking for some nice flowers to embelish my meadow and I found clear stickers from various Crate Paper collections.  Some of them I put on white cardstock and fussycut them to be able use foam squares for dimension, another I adhered directly to my background

I jused also little rabbit, deer and few bees just becouse I liked them. I finished layout with journaling (its important part of each of my layout) and thats it.

Hope you like it as I like it 😂 and see you next time

Veronika

August Color Kitz | Brianna Lepper

Hey friends!  Brianna Lepper here today with a new layout for y'all using the gorgeous new August 2021 Color Kitz!  This months kit is so stunning and I had so much fun creating with it!

To start, I cut the exclusive cut file out on a piece of white cardstock.  While I was still in my Silhouette Software, I duplicated and offset the inner pieces of the mandala and cut those as well.  I wanted to back the cut file using the colors in the kit so I had my Silhouette do the work for me.  This makes it so much easier when it's time to back it!  I left all of the pieces on my cutting mat and started painting each piece using the colors in the kit.

Once I was finished painting all of the backing pieces, I set them aside to dry and got to work on my background.  I took a piece of thick white cardstock and sprayed some clean water on it.  I then took the Velveteen Green from the kit and sprayed/painted it on and also added in Antique Lace to give it even more shimmer!  I wanted a bit of blue since the collection that I chose to use had some blue in it.  I pulled a Jeni B Bleu Vibez from my stash and added it in.  I wanted my background to look like the ocean/sand since my photo is of my son at the beach.  I love how it turned out, those colors went so well together and blended perfectly!

I love the colors in this kit!

Next, I backed my cut file and popped it up on foam tape and adhered it to my background.  Then, I started embellishing!  I matted my photo, got my title down and then pulled out the super cute paper clips from the kit and added them to a couple of clusters.

I pulled two of the Dotz from the kit and also got those added into my clusters.

Here's another up close shot:

Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope that I've inspired you in some way today!  Make sure to check out my process video below and also add my name in the notes/comments section of your next order and you'll receive a free gift!  See you next month friends!

Always Grateful | Using Obed Marshall | Shannon Allor

Hello friends!  It’s Shannon up on the blog today bringing you this fun layout featuring the August 2021 Color Kitz.  I am smitten by this kit!  We have a fantastic cutfile, adorable little pom pom clips, Dandy Lion Creameez, Antique Laced Shimmerz, Velveteen Green Vibez, Fire and Spice Vibez and A Rose (By Any Other Name) Inklingz.

I used the gorgeous cutfile as a template to trace onto my Bazill Marshmallow cardstock. I made sure to lightly erase my pencil lines and then painted in all of the negative space.  I love the way that it turned out!

I created two clusters. The cluster above is situated on the upper left side. I used a bunch of different products from Obed Marshall and tucked in a deep green Dotz for a bit of shine.

You can see the cute little pom pom clips in this close up along with the deep orange heart Dotz.  These little touches add so much to a project!

You can see my full process here:

I cannot wait to see what you create with this gorgeous Color Kitz!  Be sure to share your projects with us on our Shimmerz Paints Sharez FaceBook Group.

Happy Scrapping!
