Hello Shimmerz fans!
Nicole here and today I've created a layout focusing on cut files that I've backed with watercolored paper using just 3 Shimmerz paints! Here's a quick look at the final product:
I began by choosing a piece of watercolor paper from my stash and just randomly painted a section of it with different saturation's of Shimmerz Lilac Blossom, making sure that I kept some areas that were very light and some areas that were a lot darker. I repeated this same process on the other half of the watercolor paper, but this time I used different saturation variations of Inklingz Greener pastures, again, keeping areas very light and some very dark.
While this was drying, I chose a cut file from my personal library and cut different sizes of flowers and leaves. I chose these because they nearly matched exactly with the background paper that I wanted to use! I was very excited! Once my watercolor was dry, I backed all of the cut files. I then took a black marker and sketched random lines, no rhyme or reason behind this part, almost tracing the entire cut file. This "sketchy-ness" is repeated on the background paper, so I brought it thru to the cut files to tie it all together. I then chose wood butterflies and painted them with original Shimmerz Paints Lilac Blossom and original Shimmerz Paints Sugar Plum in an ombre design.
Once all of my pieces were completely dry, I put my layout together and kept it very simple. There was a lot going on with the background paper and my cut files that I only added white Nuvo Crystal Drops, gold splatters and just a few black heart stickers. I put my journaling on a tag that is hidden behind the photo. I just love the look of these flowers and leaves and how well it worked with the background paper that I wanted to keep that as the focus. Here are a few close ups of my final layout:
Here are the products that I used on today's project:
Shimmerz Lilac Blossom
Shimmerz Sugar Plum
Inklingz Greener Pastures
Thanks so much for joining me today!
