Gift set by Astrid

Hello lovely Shimmerz visitors, today I have a little gift set to share with you.
A card and matching bookmark for someone who loves reading...
This time I only used Shimmerz paints and no sprays at all, which is unusual for me as I love all the different Shimmerz sprays, but I thought it was time to make some of the yummy paints hold center stage.... Here are the ones I used:

Here's a quick run down of how I put all of this together:

I cut a piece of card to 7 x 7", created some texture with paste and a stencil and then painted with my chosen paints until I was happy with the effect. I blended the colours, using both a brush and a baby wipe and then spritzt with water to get a mottled effect.  I love the marbled effects the paints create over the textures in the background.

I then used some stamps, these are all from the Unforgettable set from Hot off the Press.
I coloured the stamped images with more of the paints using a fine brush and added highlights with some watercolour pencils and a white gel pen.
To create the main sentiment I cut a separate piece of card, coloured and then stamped it and then slightly curled it with the end of a paint brush.
I added a flower from my stash and here is the finished card, matted and layered onto some Kraftcard.
The matching bookmark is made out of two separate pieces:
I used one of Tim Holtz Mixed Media dies, added some more texture paste through a stencil and then coloured as before.
Here is the darker piece that was glued underneath.
Some stamped and fussy-cut butterflies to embellish.
And here is the finished bookmark.

As you can hopefully see, just 4 of these little pots of paint can give you some wonderful background effects!
Thank you for visiting like always and I hope that you like my project....
