Valentine Canvas

This is a canvas project I have wanted to do for a long time, not necessarily a Valentine one, but the technique of tissue paper squares as a background. I just so happened to be inspired by the season!

I cut my tissue paper into approximate one inch squares, (random, not perfect!!) I then put Mod Podge in a matte finish onto a paper plate. I used my foam brush to apply the Mod Podge onto the canvas, working in only very small sections because you have to put the tissue squares on quite quickly to avoid tearing it. After applying a few tissue squares, you Mod Podge over that section using a generous amount so that again, you do not tear the tissue. I placed my tissues with small spaces so that you could see white canvas in between. I let that dry overnight. I then took a soft bristled, wide paint brush and painted Shimmerz BLINGZ in "Hi Ho Silver" all over the background. After letting that dry for a few minutes, (Shimmerz dries incredibly fast!!) I used the new Shimmerz VIBEZ in "Before Dawn" along with a polka dot stencil in the bottom left corner and top left corner. I used Swirl Stamp with black Stazon Ink right on top of that after it dried. For the 2 paper doilies, I used the same VIBEZ, "Before Dawn". For the red heart die cut I sprayed Shimmerz SPRITZ in "Baby's Breath", then used the same Swirl Stamp with black Stazon and stamped a small portion of it. I placed all of my pieces for the "collage" part of the canvas. The photo is printed on white smooth cardstock and spritzed with "Baby's Breath" as well. I found the silver frame at the $1 Store with a quote and the little bird in it, so I took it all apart leaving only the bare frame, which I added more sparkle to by using "Hi Ho Silver" Shimmerz Blingz. I adhered the photo into the frame and used my hot glue gun to adhere the frame directly onto the canvas. Voila! I am definitely trying the tissue paper technique on canvas again! The canvas measures 9x12 (inches)
