Markmaking with Shimmerz Watercolors | Zinia Amoiridou

Hello artsy friends! It's Zinia here and I'm back with my last project in the Shimmerz Education team. It's been such an amazing year and I am so honored to be part of the Shimmerz family but unfortunately I have to step down for 2018. I had a really great time creating with these gorgeous products and I really hope to return in the future. But for now let's take a look at the project I created for you :)

I decided to work with a mix of Inklingz and Creameez and just do some scribbles and doodles on my page. You can also see this as a creative way to swatch your colors as it lets you explore the different ways the paint reacts depending on how much water you add or what brush stroke you use to apply it.

I started with one color at a time and created all sorts of different marks and shapes to fill the page.

When the first layer was dry, I went back in to add more details on each shape. In some cases I layered different colors and in others I used the same color to create a glaze over the initial layer.

For every color and shape, I tried to do something different. The more variety on the shapes and marks, the more playful the page will look in the end.

I also picked a white pen marker to add even more doodles on top of some shapes. You can use any marker you want or even a fineliner pen to add scribble details on top of your shapes.

The colors I used on this page are: CREAMEEZ in Purple Peony, 1 Hot Mama, Lapis Dance and INKLINGS in Blue Lagoon, She Packs a Pack, Gosh Garnet, Old Yeller, I'm not Limon, Blue my Mind.

Freehand Watercolour Bouquet | Zinia Amoiridou

Today we are gonna dive into the world of watercolors and create a unique art piece using Shimmerz sprays.

We all love watercoloring with Inklingz and Creameez but did you know you can do it with your mists too? In today's project I'm sharing with you how I created this abstract watercolor bouquet with my favorite Vibez and Coloringz.

I didn't really feel like painting the vase for he base of my page so I used a stencil by Donna Downey studios and the Salt of the Eart Paste-eez to add the impression of a container.

After it dried I added a little bit of color using my favorite Vibez, Jeni B Blue.

Before I started painting, I pre-mixed all my colors in a little palette so I have everything ready to go. I used a pipette to add the sprays on my palette so I won't need to dip my paintbrush in the bottle every time and risk contaminating my colors.

The rest of the products I used are: Vibez - Hermit the Frog, Sunset Strip and Sweet Heart, Coloringz - No Yoking, Pink Stilettos and Don't Citron Me.

The actual painting process is very loose and intuitive. You basically let the color lead the way. To create the roses you just draw a few "C" shapes going out from the middle while you water down the color as you go.

You can follow along the video and use the exact strokes if you are a beginner or allow yourself to experiment a little bit and try to create your own composition. Whatever you chose be sure to enjoy the process.

Hey there!  Lydell here again sharing a page from this week in my Bible.  My bible group is reading Joshua, and this particular verse reminded me of a song I listened to as a teen, when life was not always so easy.  I love how music brings back memories and feelings associated with particular times and people......So I just had to do this verse from the chapter.

I used Shimmerz Aqua Huez, and a couple of Creameez colours and a gold Inklingz (a favourite...Miner, Miner  such a beautiful Gold!)

 I drew out my design and inked it with a Black .1 Micron Pen. Once dry I added colour, lightly at first and adding deeper colours in the folds of the roses and where shadows might be in the leaves.

I wrote the text with an embossing pen and covered it with white embossing powder and then melted with a heat tool.  Then the background colours were added with the white resisting the colour.

A technique that is not too tricky, and quite eye catching!

Shimmery watercolour backgrounds

Hello,  Lydell with you again sharing some watercolour style backgrounds.  I have been playing around with watercolouring lately and because Shimmerz Paints react well with water, I decided to use some of the Shimmerz (in pots) watercolour style.

Heres the page I created doing this.

Heres what I did to acheive this look.

First I taped off my cardstock and taped down the sheet to my cutting mat to hold it down flat

then I brushed water over the cardstock (just the taped off area)

next I used some selected Shimmerz colours.

(Shimmerz-Marigold, sunnyTickle me turquoise,pink, key lime and coal.)

I put my brush in the pot and then dabbed it onto the page letting the water take it and move it about the page.  I alternated water and paint and helped it along here and there with the brush.

I let this dry

I got Coal and added drops

then Vertigre Vibez dropletts

I blew that through a straw to get the veins on top.

I let this dry too.

Then with a white pen, I traced the watermarks with in the masked off area, separating the colours and the drips and drops.  It looks very effective!  I love the result.
