Merry Memories | Melissa Minor | December 2024 Color Kitz

 Hello Shimmerz friends! Melissa Minor here and today I'm sharing a layout for the Shimmerz Paints Design Team. I'm using the beautiful December 2024 Color Kitz. The pictures I'm scrapbooking are some fun ones! I live in a small rural town in Missouri. Each year at Christmas time they hold a street stroll to bring business to the downtown shops. Well in 2022 the newspaper hosted a contest in conjunction to the street stroll. 32 businesses participated and each had a selfie station. If you visited all 32 stops and took a selfie you could enter the newspaper contest. This is a scrapbookers dream, right? Of course we took 32 selfies! The newspaper printed the photo I'm scrapbooking today of me and my boyfriend Dale. The little tab you see at my top of my layout is a pull tab to the actual newsprint clipping tucked behind the layout. I made a pocket to hold it. I used several of the paints that came in the kit to create a mixed media background. I then took some modeling paste and used a snowflake stencil over the top of that to create some texture. The papers in this month's kit are my favorite. I had a hard time choosing which to use. I ended up choosing 4 of my favorites and cut the down to 3x4 and placed across the layout. I used some stamps from my stash and dipped them into the paints that I had sprayed onto my glass mat. I then used metal dies to cut out the images. To create the foilage I painted some mixed media carstock with the Fir Sure Shimmerz and used dies to cut them out. They are so shimmery. Gorgeous!
