Julia's Garden

Hi everyone, Heidi here! :)

Today's project was completely inspired by my neighbor. She is my friend, a surrogate Grandmother to my children, and just a beautiful woman. She spends time with my girls outside on a regular basis, teaching them about critters and birds, gardening, and all things nature. (Which is fabulous, because while I might have green tipped fingers because of painting - a green thumb is NOT something I was blessed with!)

Last week she bought us flowers, and with the girls she created a garden within our landscaping. It is BEAUTIFUL. So we have dubbed this gorgeous spot, "Julia's Garden," and thought that we should dress it up a bit.

Rocks are plentiful around my yard, so I snagged one up and brought it inside.

I first misted it with Coloringz in Pink Stiletto, Mandarin Mai Tai, and No Yoking...

Then I took that favorite stamp of mine, covered it in gesso, and stamped onto the rock.
Then, I spritzed some Lime in Da Coconut over the stamped image... and heat set to dry.
Finally, I wrote "Julia's Garden" in puffy paints, coated the edges of the rock in Sparkilicous Enamelz, and then heat set the whole thing one more time. To finish it off, and because I wanted it to remain outside where it can be rained on - I Mod Podged the whole thing so we wouldn't have any paint run-off.

Here it sits, pretty as can be, in it's namesake's garden. :)

xx Heidi
