Hey, it's MK! Today I'm creating a two page layout, enhancing patterned paper and making fishy trails sparkle. Are you ready?
I started by using a background cut file as a stencil on my blue patterned paper. I wanted the background stencil work to be tone-on-tone and barely visible. Then I added Inklingz Spotlight White and sprinkled it at a diagonal across both my blue papers to make it look like the shimmer from the waves. I cannot tell you how much I love this little paint pot. Setting that off to dry...
While the background is drying, I'm going to paint my fishy trails with Shimmerz Silver Bells. I put two coats on them so I could get a really good shimmer and shine. Before they dried completely, I splattered some Spotlight White over them.
Back to the background...now that the white is dry, I'm going to splatter Color Splash Sea Breeze and Once Upon a Lime on the same direction that I used the Spotlight White in.
While that is drying once more, I'm going to stitch on my fishy trials.
Now that all the prep work is done, I can put this layout together.
I added sequins behind my meshy ribbon for some added sparkle, used scraps of paper to back my fish and added my title. Once everything was in it's place, I used Color Splash Whites of Their Eyes to splatter over the entire layout and embellishment clusters.
I love the movement that all the splattering has added to this layout. I especially like the depth I get when adding splatters before I create the layout and after it is finished.
That is all that I have for you today. Thank you so much for stopping by! Here is the process video, if you'd like to see how this layout came together:
