Hi everyone! Samantha here. I'm known for being Shimmerz Team Manager and Social Media Director. I have another title to add to my belt though: Designer. I get nervous saying that! I'm still rather new at this. I started about 9 months ago after my son was born. He's one of those really photogenic kids. I had tons of pictures piling up so what better way to keep track of my crazy like than through fun colorful pages! Here I go *gulp*
This week, Shimmerz released a fun new stamp set based on silly birds. I thought about them for a while but I had the perfect helpers to make this page a success. My girls, Poppie and Toodles. We recently gained some new bird neighbors that like to perch on our patio. Much like the ones in the stamps. So I grabbed this silly snapshot of the girls waiting for their new friends and turned it into a fun memory.
I started with some basic white watercolor cardstock. It's thicker and doesn't absorb all that shimmer I'm about to add. I then stamped my Coo Coo's with a waterproof black ink pad. That way I can paint in my new friends with no smudging or bleeding.
After my birdies are finished setting, I take a watercolor paint brush and just lightly paint the other half of my page with water. Don't over saturate it though. A little goes a LONG ways. While your page is still wet, I took one of my favorite blues, Cold As Ice Vibez , and sprayed along that watered part of the page. While your Vibez are still runny and wet, take a dry paper towel, dab random places and BOOM, you've got some cloudy blue skies. I let my page dry for about 20 minutes or so. Make dinner, play with the baby, anything to keep my mind off of my cute page to be.
After my sky is finished drying, I start adding that POP of color to my COO COO's. I'm a huge bright color girl, so I used all my favorite colors in my Shimmerz Collection:
* Honey Do List Inklingz *GREEN*
* Berry Hot Creameez *BERRY PINK*
* Boogie Boardin' Blue Creameez *BRIGHT BLUE*
The thing that's awesome about Shimmerz products is they dry in the blink of an eye. SNAP, done, dry. You can finish your project much faster, as well as much brighter.
After that, I remember I had some fun cloud die cuts I had been hoarding. I sprayed them with a tiny tiny amount of Cold as Ice. As soon as they were dry, I got the hot glue gun going and wanted to add a 3d effect to them. I snagged some cotton balls, ripped them up and placed piece by piece little fluff with hot glue in hand.
Now it's time to add the finishing touched: Some fun puffy hearts from Bella Blvd, some quirky letter's from Felicity Jane and a sun shine dit cut for that added does of happy. My sunshine was sprayed with some Chick-a-Dee Spritz. If you're a yellow girl, like me, Chick-a-Dee is a MUST to have.
TA-DA! There you have it.
We made it. I survived my first blog post. Hopefully I didn't bore you too much. Don't forget that you can get the Coo Coo Loca bird's set for 15% off this week using promo code: STAMPZ15 at checkout. Sale ends Sunday.
