The Desire to create.....

Hello there!
Welcome to The Shimmerz Blog for some Shimmerz Education!

Today I am going to be doing some really simple background work with Shimmerz new Inklingz.  I adore these stunning little paint pots of Bliss!  They are little pots of solid Shimmery watercolour paint.  These are dry, and you need to squirt water into them to activate them for use.
They go a long way.
They are super shimmery.
They are highly pigmented.
and my-oh-my are they fun!

Here's my finished Page.  You can see all the Inklings in the background.

Here's how I did this.

I began by covering my whole page with Clear Gesso.  This seals the surface, and makes it less absorbant.

I painted my girls face, and drew on her features and hair.

Then tore up strips of music paper and glued it all onto her hair with gel medium.  Gel medium is a more slick surface than I would like, so I gave the hair another coat of clear gesso.

I let this dry and then added in the pencil lines indicating hair with a Prisma Color Pencil.

The hair was done with Vibez Razzle Dazzle Berry.

I put the Razzle Dazzle Berry in an aqua brush and painted it on in layers.  This is really cool.  It would work best with Coloringz though, as the Vibez has the shimmery bits in it, and that did eventually mess up the flow of the liquid through the brush.  It just washes out, but I had to shake and squeeze a lot more than usual!

Something fun......
I adore Prisma Color Pencils.  Like really love them.
Something interesting and very unexpected happens to them when used on Clear Gesso with the Vibez (and or water)  They behave a little like water colour pencils, and become soluable!  (So cool!)

Next I got out My Inklingz.
I used the Pearl collection.

First I sprayed the background with water, then after activating the Inklingz with water, I loosely brushed the colour on.  I just loaded my brush and dabbed here and there letting the water take the paint where it wanted to.  I kept adding different colours and sprayed more water until the colours had melded together.
You will need to let the water dry before adding layers though, or else the colours blend, and a lot of the time, create a muddy colour, which is not appealing.

Once the layers were mostly dry I loaded the crush again with colour and flicked it to add water splatters.

I just kept at this until I was happy!

Lastly I did some brush lettering and added a quote using India Ink.

So that's all from me today!
Hope you are inspired to go play with your brand new Inklingz...Or
to head over to the Shimmerz Store and get your own set!

Thanks for visiting the Blog today!

Gold, Stripes and Floral!

Hi there Shimmerz fans, Stacey here with you today to share a new creation featuring the following
Shimmerz products :

Vibez in Before Dawn and 24 Caret
Spritz in Ruby
Inklingz in Beets Me, Good as Gold and Giddy About Green

"I love you"

I don't often scrap the hubby and I, always seem to be behind the lens and he always seems avoid me when I have the camera out!  So that is why taking a selfie is the easiest way to grab a quick photo of the two of us :)

I am really loving the trend of a floral paper teamed with a black and white stripe pattern.  I opted for the look here and just had to add in all of the gorgeous gold.

I used Shimmerz colours to compliment the papers.

I let the Beets Me Inklingz dribble down the page here......such a pretty colour this one!

I applied a stencil with Modelling Paste and then sprayed the Vibez 24 Caret and Spritz Ruby.
I then added more of the Inklingz to blend in with these colours.

I took the nozzle off and flicked Before Dawn to certain areas of my page.

I added more gold to the vellum and on the stripe paper.

I stamped some butterflies with black ink and them coloured them with some of the Inklingz products.

I have added Inklingz in Good As Gold to the tips of the floral embellishments.

Thankyou for visiting today, I hope you are inspired to create with your Shimmerz.

Until next time xo

Hi friends!

Today I want to share a layout I created for Shimmerz. When I was thinking about what I want to do for this layout, I knew that I wanted to work on a different surface than just paper. So I decided that I will work on fabric for this layout. I used Tim Holtz Eclectic Element 12*12 fabric squares.

I haven't been making really grungy projects for a while, so I made this layout quite grungy. The paper strips I used to layer is Prima's stationer's desk. the colors coordinate with the fabric beautifully.

Fabric really soaks up the mists and paints, so I applied couple layers of colors and gessoed the area where I want the color to show up more vibrant. To make it grungy, I used Vibez in color Before Dawn to make some area darker so its not vibrant colors everywhere. I also used black ink to do the stamping to add more grungy feelings.

This start-to-finish video will show you how I made this layout:

Product List:
- Coloringz: My Bleeding Heart, Pink Stillettos.
-Spritz: Bed Of Roses
-Vibez: Before Dawn
-Dazzerlerz: Pucker Up Pink
-Texturez: Tidi Widi

Thank you for looking.

Relax with friends by Amy Prior

Hi everyone! Amy Prior back again today to share another scrapbooking layout that I have created using tonnes of Shimmerz goodies. The layout is highlighting a fun group photo from a recent retreat I had the pleasure of attending and I just couldn't wait to scrap it. Having fun relaxing and scrapbooking with friends is my favorite way to spend a weekend!

My background for this layout was created using some of the fabulous new Shimmerz Inklingz plus some Shimmerz Texturez Paint. The Inklingz were painted in circles onto a non-stick craft sheet and I have then stamped my paper over the top. I repeated this step with 3 different colors of the Inklingz and just love the cool circle effect it gave. I have then added the Shimmerz Texturez paint through a stencil using a Palette Knife.

The large circle chipboard frame was painted using lots of different shades of colors in the Shimmerz Inklingz to create the appearance of texture and shadowing. I have also added some leaf spray chipboard pieces that I have painted with Shimmerz Dimensionz Paint before adding some Shimmerz Spritz spray over the top.

The finishing touches on my chipboard was to add some yellow added in the little circles using Shimmerz Dimensionz which helped tie the yellow back in to the rest of my layout. The flower cluster was formed using various vines as a base and then a tonne of gorgeous Petaloo flowers.

Shimmerz Texturez Tidy Widy
Shimmerz Dimensionz Green Thumb

Cuteness Layout with Amy Prior

Hi everyone!!! Eeekk I am so very honoured to be here presenting my first blog post as a Design Team gal for Shimmerz Paints! To say I am over the moon is the understatement of the century. I do hope that I inspire you all to get creative with your Shimmerz products and don't forget to head on over to the Shimmerz store here to stock up on all the goodies I have used today. Use my name in the comments when ordering and receive a free sample container of your choice woohoo!

Today I have a layout to share titled "Cuteness". Is this photo of my eldest daughter not totally cute or what? Those eyes, that hair, could melt anyone. To start off this layout I have added lots of gorgeous Shimmerz Inklingz to my background cardstock using a paint brush and lots of water. To get the nice watercolor blotched effect, I have sprayed lots of water on the cardstock to begin with and continued to add more water so it blended and splotched nicely. I use super technical terminology LOL.

When the inklingz on the background was dry, I have added some subtle masking over the top using a stencil with some Shimmerz Texturez. I seriously have to say that Texturez is my favorite texture addition and I rarely do a project without using it these days! I have also added lots of the Texturez to the tips of the petals on the flowers that I knew I wanted to use for the layout. I love adding paint, etc to the edges of petals it really gives it a nice different effect than just leaving the flowers as they are.

In amongst my layers of paper is a chipboard chicken wire that was given a rough coating of Shimmerz Texturez followed by a dash of Shimmerz Inklingz randomly to add some color. I then painted the chipboard branch green and the little birds purple all using Shimmerz Inklingz. If you get a nice thick consitency when mixing with water, there is no need to gesso or prime the chipboard first which is fabulous for people like me who likes to simplify as much as possible.

The final touches included some Clear Pebbles to highlight the gorgeous texture and shimmer of the background and some Shabby Resin pieces that were colored using Shimmerz Inklingz Paints.

Full Shimmerz Product List for this project include...
Shimmerz Inklingz Blue My Mind
Shimmerz Inklingz Meet Me @ Sunset
Shimmerz Inklingz Beets Me
Shimmerz Inklingz Pink-A-Boo
Shimmerz Inklingz Spotlight White
Shimmerz Texturez Tidy Widy

Shimmery Art Journaling.

Welcome to the Shimmerz Blog today!
Lydell here with you this morning, sharing an Art Journal page I have been playing with
over the last couple of days.

I always just love when I get an opportunity to play in my journal!

Here's My finished spread.

I have just started another journal. It was an old microwave cookbook.  I love the orientation of this one.  It is tall and thin.  Really interesting change to working on these narrow pages!

I started out on a gessoed surface and added Neocolor II watercolour Crayons and gelato's with water,
just swiping with a brush and a baby wipe.

I dried off the layers in between colours.  I sprayed with Shimmerz Vibez in Heidi Ho Blue Coloringz.....smoothed with a brush to further add colour to the page, and flicked the nozzle to the page splattering drops all over. I used Coloringz Lime in da coconut to enhance the green areas too, as its such a gorgeous vibrant color.

I coloured her dress in with the New Inklingz colour-Meet me at Sunset, which was just gorgeous.  So very luminescent.  I went around the edges with a big brush marker.  I shaded with some Neocolor II crayons as well.  Her hair has some streaks of Inklingz- Spotlight white.

I added colour to the balloon, and went over it with Beats me Inklingz,
and added the shine with the spotlight white Inklingz again

I added my journaling around the edge and called it done!

So that's it from me today!

If you have not gotten your Shimmerz yet, then visit the website
