"A bit of this, a bit of that" A Shimmerz Journal Page

Hi there.
I am back sharing my most recent Shimmerz project!

I have a page to share today.  I have been having paint fun in my journal!

This is a page I recently did in my hand made journal

Lots of gorgeous earthy tones used in this one....

Marigold Shimmerz, Hot fudge Vibez, Truffle Spritz, Licorice Spritz, Fiery siesta Spritz, Rusty Bottom Vibez.

The paint is just layered on top of a Gessoed paper, similar to heavy kraft wrapping paper ( It was actually the protective sheets that came wrapped around our out door kitchen components, that I cut down and stitched into signitures and into a journal.)  It takes gesso and paint beautifully!

Art Journals are so much fun to use your Shimmerz Paints in.  I love the smaller size, (than a regular layout,) and the freedom from pressure you sometimes get from doing a complete Layout.  This is just pure art, and its fun if you can delve a little deeper and journal whats on your mind in the process.  Its great to make you, take notice and think about things in your everyday too.

Anyway.

Thanks for stopping in today.  Great to have you here!
Be sure to stop by and like our FaceBook page and check out any new competitions that might be going on over there as well......

A couple of Cuties :)

Hi everyone!
I just have a couple of projects to show you here, featuring a couple of cuties. (I know, I know, I am incredibly biased... but hey....)

First up, using Rolling in the Hay to highlight and spot the background I created this layout:

"A Girl in Time"
I also used Pixie Dust (ohhh, how I love this paint) to drip around my elements for some more Shimmer and added texture effects.

Here is project two, a wrap up of my son Xander's first year!

"12 Months, 12 Memories"

I used Mandarin Mai Tai, Lime in Da Coconut, and Heidi Ho Blue to add the splotches and fun paint detail. I didn't use as much as I normally do on this layout, but I swear I love it. Just goes to show you that sometimes a little goes a LONG, way!!!

Perfect

Hello Shimmerz Fans! Shona here today with a little Pictorial on how I did my background using some yummy Shimmerz products.

Step 1:

I have distressed a sheet of corrugated board and some paper and glued them together. I then misted with some water and gave it a white wash with some gesso.

Step 2:

I added 2 more pieces of corrugated cardboard and more gesso on it. Use your heat tool to dry.

Step 3:

Use some Shimmerz Spritz Carribean Sunset and cover the gesso areas. I used a pencil to mark where my photo will go.

Step 4:

I have used a paintbrush and some Vibez Before Dawn to make the drips and splats on the page. Don’t be afraid, tip the paper and watch the drips form. Use your heat tool to dry.

Step 5:

Next is some crazy stitching on the background. FUN!

Step 6:

I have some gauz and I have used Shimmerz to color it. Just spray it on, and use your heat tool to dry.

Step 7:

I now have arranged all of the embellishments. Cover the photos with paper towel and mist with the Shimmerz Carribean Sunset all of the flowers and embellishments. This will tie them all in together with the layout and give them all a fabulous shimmer.

This is my finished layout of my grandson..what a cutie pie!!

Look at that yummy Shimmer:)

Drips and Splats are so much fun!

Well that is it for today. Don’t forget on your next order to ask for your free bottle of Shimmerz. Just leave a message with any DT member and we can fill you in on the details! Swing on by our Facebook page for more inspiration and fun contests going on right now. Take care and happy Scrapping!

Some fabulous Shimmerz Product Play!

Just thought I would do a quick and easy photo tutorial today on how the basic outlines I used to complete  my page.
I had some serious product play with this one. Love when I just have the opportunity to play.  A friend has just released some gorgeous Papers (13@rts by Aida Domisiewicz)  and I sat down and played with them.  The papers really lend themselved to mixed media work and just art play,

so I started off with some of my homemade texture paste, and coloured it with a layer of Pearlz in Powder Puff Pearlz.   Then I sprinkled it heavily with Jack Frost ENAMELZ.  So gorgeous.  I heated it to melt, from underneath the paper so the glittery bits didnt fly off and away like they tend to do.....
It works really well and is a great tip for using ENAMELZ.
(psssst....theres a sale on ATM.....FABULOUSNESS!!!!)

Check out that texture.   Yum!

Next I cut off a strip of beautiful lace and layered that on top in preparation to 'build' my page!

I made some rolled roses, by cutting a circle out of patterned paper and cutting in a spiral all the way into the centre.

OK....A  very quick rolled rose tutorial.......

Just cut out a circle from printed paper, doesnt have to be perfect.....then cut into a spiral.  Now this is about perfect for OTP projects and album covers, but for me....its still just a little thick for a page that will go into an album, so I cut my spiral in half again.  See the red line this time.

The width of the spiral will be the height of the rose.

So now start rolling into the centre from the beginning of the outside spiral working intowards the middle.  Here you add a dob of glue to hold it all together.  You can cut or punch another little circle, add the glue to that and then press your rolled rose onto it, so the glue can hold all the edges of the rolled paper into the rose shape.  It works great!  and they are really cute.  Play around with the size of your initital circle.

Once it was dry I brushed a little Peachy Keen Shimmerz onto the roses top edges, then dried them and added some Opal Shimmerz to tone down the brightness a little.

Next I painted some raw Chipboard with gesso first, then added Lilac Shimmerz, and then some Peechy Keen Shimmerz with a palette knife, putting it on quite chunky.  Then I brushed over some Opal Shimmerz again to tone down the colour (so It matched my papers.)

I hand cut some little leaf shapes and inked their edges, folded them in half and popped them under each little rolled flower.

Then I glued it all together, adding the other little bits and pieces.
And so finished my page remembering when My dear little girl made me a cake for Mothers Day.  She was so very proud.  Her older brother is usually responsible for the cake making, but she did it with a little guidance this time, and she was so very proud of herself!

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Ahoy me hearties..............

So the boys have been at me to make them a pirate painting for their room.  I was going to do a little boy pirate (but I am not the best at drawing faces) until my hubby said "Why don't you make it a pirate Owl"!  Well of course, why didn't I think of that and here is the boys pirate that now sits up on their wall!!!

I used the following Shimmerz products:
Vibez in Blue Jeans, Hot Fudge, Hermit the Frog, Jeni B Bleu
Spritz in Truffle, Sapphire, Sea Foam
Coloringz in Mama Sings the blues and Heidi Ho Blue

He is so super cute! And the boys loved him :)

So who is getting excited about the new Texturez and Dazzlerz, I certainly am!!!!  I have seen a sneak peek and OMG I can't wait to play!!  Don't forget to mention my name upon checkout in the Shimmerz store to receive your FREE bottle of Shimmerz!

Have a wonderful day xo
