Messy and fun!!

Hi all :):)  If there is one thing I have learnt from using Shimmerz, it's that you can't stuff it up!  If I don't like the way the colours have blended, I will either apply another colour or fill it with Gesso and start again!!  I really love to give a background a couple of sprays and then I will take off the lid and flicker it over the page.

In this layout I have used the following Shimmerz products:

Coloringz in Mandarin Mai Tai and Heidi Ho Blue
Spritz in Mango Madness and Treasured Hyme
Vibez in Hot Fudge
Shimmerz in Antique Lace, Apricot and Tickle Me Turquoise
Blingz in Under the Sea

Here are some closeups.......it's honestly just about having fun and experimenting!

Thankyou so much for dropping by, I hope you have a lovely weekend!  And would just like to say a big congrats to the winners of the Blog Hop :)

Take care,
Stace x

Altering papers to make new Layout backgrounds

Hi there, Lydell again today and I am showing you what I have been playing with the last few days!

Lots of fun stuff.
No rules,
No requirements,
Just play!
........Nice!

So I have quite a bit of paper in my stash which is either old, out of date or just that I have seen too much in my stash!!!  (I am a little bored with it.....) Or papers that I would just like to dress up.  This process works for all these senario's!!!

I love being able to use things I feel like I would not use normally, things that dont jump out at me.  I make it a challenge for myself everytime I go selecting papers, to try and use something old.  Freshen it up, make it cool again!  Sometimes I succeed....sometimes I dont, but thats ok....I try!

Texture paste, Gesso, and Shimmerz Paints are the staple products in this process, and you can kick out several background pages at a time doing this.

To start with I pick out my papers, (sturdy ones are good, seeing they will have several layers of mixed wet mediums on them), then I select some stencils.  Mine favourites are Crafters Workshop, but I have several from the cheap shops and even recycled things to spray through!

I then swipe texture paste through the stencils with a palette knife in a spot I can imagine my photo grouping happening on the page.  I do several at once in different places with different stencils, and wash them off all at once (I dont LOVE cleaning stencils!!!!)  I set all these aside now to dry.

Next I pick out co-ordinating colours from my Shimmerz collection.  There are perfect colours for what ever you are working with!!!
and I start spraying, dripping, splashing, splotching and blowing.....anything i can dream up to get the paint on the pages.....and it looks cool.  I just add and add until I am happy!

....wipe off here and there with a baby wipe,
(Gesso acts as a resist to Shimmerz, if you wipe it off with something damp before it has dried totally)
then add some more.
Stamp, doodle, what ever takes your fancy.  Just keep going until you are happy!

.......and here are some finished pages ready to start a Layout on!

Loads of fun.
I could do this all day.
But there's washing to be done....and children to feed!
I will share what I create using some of these next time,  till then, have a good week and enjoy playing!
Thanks for stopping by,

To begin with I select my stensilc

Who Doesn't Need Another Purse?

Okay, I admit it. I am a purse-aholic. I cannot have too many handbags... all different sizes, styles, colors, etc. What I have discovered, however, is that I always have a vision in mind for the kind of bag that I want to carry - and almost never can find it. SOOO... I have decided to start making some, and of course, Shimmerz is going to play a big part in it!

Here is my latest, little, creation. It measures about 8 x 8 and is a Prima canvas album that I altered with tons of art mediums, and coated like crazy with Shimmerz. This is the second one that I have made this way, and the first I loved so much, and it was stolen by my tweener daughter, Ahna... so it was time to make a second. This time, however, I used pinks/purples, which aren't HER favorite colors. :)

I sewed some decorative stitches around the pages, and then inserted in a liner, before attaching the whole thing together. After this I used masks a plenty with gesso for the background, and then attached all my flowers and embellishments using Fabri-Tac.
Normally I paint the background first, but I didn't do that here, I simply waited until it was all dry and then layered the following colors on, drying between applications, until I got the color hue that I wanted. All my flowers and embellishments were either burlap, cream or ivory colored, so I could get a monochromatic look.
Here are the colors that I used:
Spritz in Pop Art Pink
Spritz in Mudpie
Vibez in Redy-or-Not
Vibez in Grape Escape
Pearlz in Espresso

Shimmerz Blog Hop!

Welcome, welcome, to the Shimmerz Paints "We're Thankful" Blog Hop!

The holidays are quickly approaching, and we will soon be entering into the gift giving season. Before black friday appears though, we want to remember all the things that we are thankful for this year. We've decided to put on a blog hop, telling you things that we are thankful for and along the way we will share with you our own personal favorite Shimmerz Products, and give you the opportunity to win some fabulous prizes! Have you seen our new collection? It's made up of of 4 new vibez colors, shimmering with golden luster! They will work amazingly with our holiday collection that we are re-releasing for the holidays! If you didn't get the opportunity to snag these last year, now is your chance!

To play along with us, visit the following links, leave a comment everywhere you go, and finally, once you end up on the Shimmerz blog page, tell us something that you are thankful for and what Shimmerz Paint product you wish you had. Make sure to leave a comment everywhere though, because there are a couple of prizes hidden within some of the Ed team, and DT blog posts! (To be eligible to win these, you must have left a comment on their blog hop post.)

Here are a few of the holiday projects that were created by our team last year, that used our previous holiday collection, and that we loved!

This adorable box, and ornament were created by owner, Stacey, and we think they are just sooo cute!

These candles were altered by me, Heidi Kelley. I just love how they shimmer on my holiday table, adding sparkle and pizazz as a centerpiece.

And this layout, created by Stacey Young, well...everytime that I look at it, I swoon.

What Shimmerz products are your favorite? Seriously, I can't choose anymore. :)

One thing that we know for certain, though, here at Shimmerz, is that one of our favorite things about this past year, is being able to inspire all of you, and we hope that this blog hop has done just that! We appreciate all of you, are crafty friends, and wish you the most amazing holiday season!

AND Don't forget to be coming back here this weekend if you are playing along with the hop now... amazing Black Friday deals are soon on their way...
but first this blog hop you must play!!! :)

What's up for grabs if you play along?
THE WHOLE MERRY & BRIGHT COLLECTION!!!
(yep, that's all 8 colors, pictured here!)

In other fun news, coming up in December and January, we have guest educator, Miranda Edney, playing with us! Have you seen her work? It is truly gorgeous... I can hardly wait to see what she does with our paints. :)

Alrighty, here are the rest of the blog hop links, in case you get lost somewhere around the way.
You have until November 25 to enter, and we will notify all the winners sometime shortly after!!

Thanks for playing along with us!! Have fun, and be inspired!

A christmas card idea wih shimmerz

Hello! It's Naomi here. I hope your weekend has been good.
Today I thought I'd do something else, not a 12inch LO as I usually do.

I decided to make some christmas cards WITH kids.
So I got out some of Shimmerz products and of course the kids were sooo excited.
Yeah! We can use mummy's "important" Stuff.

Using a template, I , they sprayed some colours onto white cardstocks.

 Here they are.

 punched out the circles.

From here, I also punched out some more circles using patterned papers and placed them on a white cardstock to make a shape of a wreath.
(Sorry there are no images during the prosess here..)
I added some more bits and pieces on, too

Here is the finished card.

As you can see, I splattered some paint all over the card and for the background, I used one of my favourite colours, "No Yoking" to give it more texture.

Now they are all ready.

I just love how shimmerz can turn "a chiristmas card with kids" into something more with such a special touch to it.

Products used:
  • Coloringz Heidi-ho-blue
  • Colouringz Lime in da coconut
  • Colouringz No Yoking
  • Colouringz Pink Stiletto
  • Vibez Princess
  • Colourinz My bleeding heart
  • Vibez Sunset Strips

Thank you for popping by and I wish you all a happy week ahead!

xx Naomi

Shimmery Christmas Tags

Happy Friday everyone!  Today I have some Christmas Tags to share with you.  I just love this time of year and I thought why not make my own tags for our Christmas gifts this year.  They where actually quite quick to make aswell.  I made them at all different sizes and used lots of random bits and pieces around my scraproom.

Here are the Shimmerz products I used:

Coloringz in Heidi Ho Blue, My Bleeding Heart and Ivy League
Vibez in Hermit the Frog
Enamelz in Gold Digger

Some Closeups for you:

I started by applying texture paste to various masks on my tags.  I then gave each a spray with the Vibez and Coloringz.

I added washi tape to the tags followed by a torn piece of calico.

I then added my extra embellishments.

I hope you enjoyed my Christmas Tags today, thankyou for stopping by.
