A little bit of sunshine.............

I don't tend to scrap with yellow very often.  I don't know why, it's such a happy colour and fits perfectly with our warm weather we are having at the moment!

Here is my list of Shimmerz used on this project:
Coloringz in Mandarin Mai Tai and No Yoking
Spritz in Carribbean Sunset
Vibez in Before Dawn
Shimmerz in Coal
Pearlz in Blue By U

I used the black to give a shadow effect on some sections of the page and to also tie in with the dark edges of the photo.

Thanks for stopping by my post today, hope you are feeling happy!

New look!

A while ago I bought dressform. It was a little anonymous, and now I finally found the right inspiration to turn it into a unique and original one.

With the help of Shimmerz, Caramel, Tickle Me Turquoise and Acqua Marine, I coloured the body of the dressform trying to get mixed effect.

The skirt is made of many strips of papaer sprayed with Egg Nogging Vibez to make them as shyni as possible. Now my dressform has a new look and is ready for a big dance.

Have a great day with creativity.

A Super Simple Canvas & Shimmerz!

Hey everyone!!  Jaime Warren with you today to share a super simple canvas project using fabulous Shimmerz products.  I admit that I am not, by any stretch of the imagination, a painter.  I haven't attempted a canvas project of any kind in years.  However, I came across some fun wooden numbers at Big Lots and decided to create a canvas for my living room with a number five (which represents our family of five!)

When I say that this canvas is simple, I mean simple!  I chose a beautiful aquamarine paint and combined it with the following Shimmerz products:

Pearlz in Powder Puff
Coloringz in Pink Stilettos
Shimmeringz in Baby's Breath

To start, I painted the canvas with my base paint and then let it dry for just a bit.  I then used a sponge to paint over the base color with the Powder Puff Pearlz.  This gave it a gorgeous shimmer!  I let it dry again, this time over night.  The next day I sprayed the entire canvas with the Baby's Breath Shimmeringz.  After letting it dry for about 30 minutes I added lots of droplets of Pink Stilettos Coloringz.

After the canvas was completely dry I used my hot glue gun to attach the wooden number five and my doiles.  The result is a simple canvas that is big on the shine and shimmer.  I love how it turned out and I proudly showcase it in our living room!  I hope you guys enjoyed my project today!  Thanks for stopping by!

Altering papers with Shimmerz

Hi there, Its Lydell with you today and I have a page to share!
Lots of altering and shimmering going on here.....

I found I needed to tone down the images on the paper designs so that the design was not too fussy, so I pulled out my Shimmerz Paints, sprays and mediums.

My page turned out like this.....

You can see how I washed out the top paper a little with white and Powder Puff Pearlz,
so it didn't look too busy.

...Then I attacked the background.
I used Coloringz- Anchors Away quite heavily to wash out the pattern of the paper in the centre again, (but this time with a dark shade rather than white.) I sprinkled over some Silver Fox Enamelz, to add some dimension and some shimmer and then I flicked over some Powder Puff Pearlz, adding the white splatters.

I added lots of layers.

You can see in the image below....I tore up a white surviette.....
(from McDonalds....its already only 1 ply,- no pulling apart!)
.....and used multi-medium gel to adhere it down.
Then I added some white string.
I went over all this with Powder Puff Pearlz liberally.
I sprinkled 'slithers' of Silver Fox Enamelz over this, while still a bit wet- and heat embossed.

I added embossing ink to the edges of the paper (you can see them above) which had already been torn and distressed and tipped Silver Fox Enamelz over it.  It edged the paper just nicely in silver.

I just added the journaling and all the other bits and pieces- and called it done!

So remember next time you see some paper that you want to use, but its a bit fussy for your design,
consider your Shimmerz Paints to alter it.
Use your stash and alter what you have!
Shimmerz is not just for colouring stuff.  Use it to make your items more usable!
Thanks for dropping in today.

Baby Valentine

Hi everyone, I couldn't wait to get stuck in and play with this gorgeous collection:)  Have you got yours yet??

I took a couple of sweet pics of my baby boys the other day and this one totally jumped out at me!  He was holding the heart lollipop in just the right position and had a super adorable look on his face looking at his brother:)

I rarely ever do the boys pages in pink but the whole theme fitted perfectly.  It's not only those big boys in our life that we consider our Valentines, it's also our little men (or little ladies) in our life too that fill our world with love!

"Baby Valentine"

I used modelling past to create my 2 hearts in the background.  I sprinkled the Enamelz all over them before they set hard.  I also added in some Coloringz in Pink Stilettos. Lots of splashes and drips of Coloringz in My Bleeding Heart too:)

I highlighted (around the edges) my flowers and pictures with the pots, Pearlz and Blingz!

My hubby and I are celebrating our 9th wedding anniversary this month too so I will be playing with these gorgeous colours again!  Hope you all have a beautfiful V-day.

Baby Art Journal, Take 2!

Last week I showed you one of my pregnancy art journal pages, and today I am going to show you "almost" the last one in the journal. I went a little crazy on this one, using so much Shimmerz paint, it's a tad bright and sooo colorful!

This page took a lot of smearing, and my fingers were covered in gesso and Shimmerz by the time it was finished! I first coated the page in white gesso, added some strips of paper in places that I desired, leaving the final chunky embellishments until the end.

Here I simply used a paintbrush to apply some Tickle Me Turquoise, then I let dry. I then smeared on some gesso, heat set it, and then used my paintbrush to add Sunflower. The purple streak that you see is some Mon Shari that I dripped onto the page and then used a scrap piece of paper to scrape across it... smearing it.

This photo shows off the various layers of paper, all of which I smeared with gesso first, and then I combined some Mandarin Mai Tai, Hottie Pink, and Sunflower, drying inbetween using each paint color.

I used the same technique below, layering on color, then gesso, drying inbetween, and then adding more color. For this color palette, I used Hottie Pink again and Mandarin Mai Tai. The grey you see on the photo was some photo effects that I applied in Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.

And with that, I bid you Adieu for the month! My son is due anytime now, and if I haven't already had him - I will be shortly. :) Have a beautiful February and I will see you next month!!
xx Heidi

**UPDATE! Heidi had her son on February 5th!** His name is Xander Rian and mama and baby are doing well. :))

Valentines Play with Shimmerz Special Edition Kit!

Hi there.
Its Lydell again sharing some cards I made for Valentines Day, which is coming up very soon!
There is a special kit being sold especially with hearts and Love in mind!  This Valentines Kit is gorgeous and I had lots of fun playing with it today~

So here is what I created today.
A couple of cards and a sweet tag.

Card Number 1

HOW TO.....

1.    I splattered My Bleeding Heart Coloringz to the back ground and dried
2.    I distressed the papers and stitched it onto my card base and added the ticket.
3.    I got a sheet of card and added a variety of book pages and dress making tissue to it with gel medium
and painted it with Hottie Pink Blingz, then sprinkled it over while still wet, with Sparkiliscious Enamelz
and heat embossed.  Then cut hearts out.
4.    I cut out some letters with the Big shot and edged them with fine black pen and added them to the card,
then covered them with a thin coat of Dimensional fluid.
5.  Add white pan lines around the edge to finish.

One of my favourite things to do is to paint a flower with Shimmerz paint (this one was with  Powder Puff Pearlz) and sprinkly the entire thing while still wet with the Enamelz. (I used Sparkiliscious on this one) and heat emboss.  You end up with an acrylic feel flower.  Its gorgeous!

Thanks so much for stopping by today,
Have a great one!

Baby Art Journal, Take 1!

Now that I am at the end of my pregnancy, I am SO GLAD that I decided to create an art journal, capturing some of the photos we have taken throughout this baby's growth in my belly. :) I created two pages this month, because I am so close to the end... and I am going to share one of them with you this week, and the other next week - hopefully, right before he gets here!

I love that I can layer my paints onto one another, and create so much texture within a project.
For this page I used Sea Monkey, Jeni B Bleu, Mon Shari mixed with some Pink Stiletto, Before Dawn, Mama Sings the Blues and a teeny bit of Anchors Away!

In the photo below, I mixed Sea Monkey into some gesso and let drips fall where they wanted. After they dripped I helped them along by tilting my page back and forth and setting a piece of fabric directly onto some of the paint spots to soak it up. I then used my finger to dab on some Before Dawn into my title box.

At the bottom right you can see where I spritzed various colors in layers, and then added a bit more of my tinted gesso on top.

I then lightly painted with a brush upon my pre-gessoed page in the white space for added color, and then used my paintbrush to flick the remainder of my tinted gesso as well as using my spritz bottle nozzles to flick some final color on there as well.

Shimmerz paints are PERFECT for art journaling. It doesn't take much to create a fabulously filled, texture covered, page when you have these paints to use!
