Tools of the trade II

I wanted to show you a few more of my tools that I use for journaling. Earlier this month I showed you a few and now I have a few more - take a look what some basic tools can do!

This is an effect I used often. It is done using sequin waste and it creates this beautiful effect.

I also like to try different things in combination. So I made my squares just freehand using the shimmerz paints. Then I sprinkled on some bling! Love these two together!

Here's another simple option. Take a tag hold it at the edge of the page and then just spritz shimmer on the rest of the page - voila!

Finally there is nothing as simple as inkblots! Spray any color in the corners of each page and then ... just close the book to let the color smush (yes that's a technical term - smush).

Happy August all - enjoy!

PS> I have a new course coming up at http://creativeworkshops.ning.com where I use some of these techniques - check it out there - Journal With Me - New Techniques.

Friends

Hello, I want to share how fun was playing with Shimmerz products, I wanted to create my own fabric flower, so I use a flower die cut , fabric and shimmerz colors in red: Bed of Roses and my bleeding heart
I also covered a chipboard piece with Enamelz sparkliscious and the final touch a light sprinkle of Baby's breath all over the card, remember that you can find all these colors/products HERE

the flower was so easy to create once I cut my flowers I sprinkle some bed of roses and my bleeding heart and dry with a heat gun, just layer them and secure with a brad! how easy is that!

Thank you so much for stop by :)

Just a dab, will do ya!

Hee... So I had a lot of fun making this card using Shimmerz, crystals and Clear Scraps. Sometimes, all you need is just a tad of Shimmerz to make a BIG impact. In this case, all I needed was a bit of Shimmerz Shimmeringz in Goldie Lox to achieve the overall bubbly effect that I really wanted for this card.

After using silver mixatives to cover the acrylic shapes that I handcut out, I went over the glasses with Shimmerz Enamelz in areas for a little more texture, creating subtle bubbles within the glasses.

I then dipped my paintbrush into some Goldie Lox and just lightly brushed over areas of the champagne glasses. Then after adding the clear colored crystals from Prima to make the "bubby" inside the glasses, I again dipped my brush into the the Goldie Lox, and dabbed it on.

After adding my final crystal embellishments to the card, I once again lightly coated some of them with the Shimmeringz. Aaaah, The Shimmerz paint and Emamelz, while used minimally - acheived such an elegant look on this card!!

Tools of the trade

So I thought I would show you how well the shimmerz work with some of my regular journaling "tools"

Just basic tools like these:

I use to create different patterns on my journal pages using the shimmerz. The one below is just the waste from a pad of stickers - once all the stickers are removed I was left with this great template. With shimmerz sprayed right on the template which sits on the page it creates this beautiful "window" effect!

Then I used a basic ruler that had a letters of the alphabet template - these are just old fashioned rulers that I have had forever. When I spray them on th journal page I get these great letters - blurred but that's okay too !

Then I used this border that I had purchased and I loved the circle effect. Sprayed through that as well and then I got this

So much fun - just using basic everyday tools. Later this month I'll show you a few more!!

Distress Embossing

There is a new video tutorial on "distress embossing" technique at the vlog today! How to apply it on a mini album?

Here's a sneak peek of the project.

Check it out and enjoy!

I created this page a while ago now, after reading a blog of a Young Mum who lost a child.  It made me always want to remember how lucky I am.  I wanted my page relatively simple, uncluttered where my journaling was a feature.  I am not good at simple though, so there are lots of little details from the spraying to the penwork and stitching and the liquid pearl flourishes.  Lots of fun!  I was a little more controlled with my spraying this time.

I layed down some adhesive backed felt trim on my hand cut tags and sprayed over the top of it, before removing, then outlining with a white gel pen.

My colour of choice this time was Vibez 'Grape escape'.  It is such a pretty and intense colour.

Thanks for stopping by today.

My ideas in a new notes!

I like to take notes, write down my ideas and my appointments on notes, so I decided to create two block-notes out of nothing.

For the cover, I took a piece of cardstock and I covered with gesso. Unfortunately my gesso had become a little dry ... no problem: with my finger I spread the almost gesso on the cover and I created an irregular background.

I coloured the background with many new Shimmerz products  (Shimmerz, Vibez, Shimmerz spritz) and gave a touch of shine with Molten Metal Enamelz.

I did not want to add any embellishments to the cover  so the focus is still the harmony of colours and the irregular background.

I covered the other parts of the cover with old newspaper pages and then I sprayed Vibez with a stencil.

Products used:

Shimmerz spritz: Sapphire, Plum Pudding and Purple Passion.
Shimmerz: Carmel, Sugar Plum, Royal Purple, Ultra Marine and Celery.
Vibez: Razzeldazzle Berry, Princess, Grape Escape, Sea Monkey, Jeni B Bleu and Hermit The Frog.
Enamelz:Molten Metal.

Have a great day with creativity!

A NEW Shimmerz Video is UP - The Grand Peony

Come and take a peek at the latest Shimmerz Video!  It is a flower tutorial, starting from white watercolor paper and it showcases the new ENAMELZ product - SPARKLISCIOUS!

See you there!

Stamping and Embossing with Enamelz!

Hi everyone!  Jaime Warren here with you today using some gorgeous new Enamelz product!  I have really fallen in love with embossing recently and a large part of the reason is because of Enamelz!  I just love the high shine & shimmer they provide - I have never seen anything like it!  I love how easy it is to add a touch (or a lot!) of sparkle by stamping & embossing with Enamelz.  I simply stamped my image with Embossing ink and then sprinkled a generous helping of Enamelz onto the stamped image.  I shook off the extra Enamelz and then used my embossing gun to set the shine!

Here is how it turned out:

I told you - tons of shine & shimmer!  I love it!  I love how it helps make stamped images really pop off the page - just gorgeous!

Here are the products I used:

Enamelz Silver Fox
Enamelz Sparkliscious
Vibez in Jeni B Bleu
Coloringz in Pink Stilettos
Spritz in Licorice
Spritz in Chick - a - dee

I hope you have enjoyed my post and I can't wait to see what you do with Enamelz!  Have a wonderful day everyone!

Masked and Oiled with Shimmerz

I love creating art journals, and as many of you know, I have a major love of hot air balloons. Reoccurring in various projects, I truly try to find unique ways of incorporating them into my projects. Creating custom art journal pages is a really fun way to do this. For the pages that I have made below, I primed my surface using gesso first and then I layered, and layered, AND LAYERED on the color using hot air balloon masks that I made myself. :) I then used distress stamps, StazOn ink and oil pastels to blend and add more artsy effects.

For this page I used Coloringz in No Yoking, Lime in Da Coconut, and My Bleeding Heart, and Vibez in Jeni B Bleu and Hot Fudge.
For this second page, I used Coloringz in Lime in Da Coconut, and No Yoking, and Vibez in Sea Monkey.

This page is a combination of Coloringz in Mon Shari, No Yoking, and My Bleeding Heart, and then I also added a bit of Coloringz in Pink Stiletto, and Spritz in Mango Madness.

For the final page that I worked on this week... I went a little bit more crazy with the pinks and purples! Letting each layer dry before adding another color, I used tons of Coloringz in Pink Stiletto and Mon Shari to create the intense hue and then topped it with My Bleeding Heart. I used Vibez in Sea Monke around the edges of the balloons before adding in my black oil pastel.

Again I used lots of distressing techniques like a sea sponge to create black flecks, and a stamp to create the grid... but the key was to layer bits of paper on as I went, and top each layer with a mask and of course, tons of Shimmerz!!!
