Paris in colors!

On my recent trip to Paris, I bought some postcards in black and white. Thanks to the Shimmerz I turned the city of love in a rainbow of colors!
The ferris wheel at Place de la Concorde is now purple (Royal Purple Shimmerz) and green (Peas Be Mine Shimmerz Pearlz) and behind it you can see a beautiful red Tour Eiffel (Fire Engine Red Shimmerz).
Notre Dame has became blue (Aqua Marine Shimmerz) and behind it you can see a pink sky (Pink Shimmerz).
An orange Seine (Marigold Shimmerz)  flows under the pink bridge (Bubble Gum Shimmerz)  and monuments and the blue houses of Paris (Tickle-Me-Turquoise Shimmerz).

I remember my trip to Paris very colorful!

Spritz and Vibez colored gauze flowers . . . plus a little note

Hi everyone!

Just take some regular household gauze and color it with Shimmerz (Spritz, Vibez, etc.), and you can create a variety of beautiful page accents. You can use the sprayed gauze as a dreamy-looking page background, or twist it and use it like you would ribbon or trim. Or you can make rolled flowers like I did on this page.

As seen in Creating Keepsakes' 2011 Tips & Tricks: Fabulous Flowers.  Copyright Creative Crafts Group.  Published with prior permission from the publisher.

I used Cotton Candy Spritz and Razzle Dazzle Berry Vibez to color the gauze:

On another note, it's time for me to say goodbye.  In an attempt to re-focus things in my life and make more time for my family, I'm stepping down from the DT at the end of this month.  I've been fortunate to have been on the Shimmerz team for over two years now, and it's been an absolute pleasure!  I got to play with all the fabulous Shimmerz products AND I made some great friends along the way.   Thank you, Stacey and Dave, for this wonderful opportunity!!

A Shimmerz-y Sketch

Ohhh, how I love my Shimmerz paint. I love that I can stamp it, drip it, create dimension and texture... even base a sketch around it. This month I was asked to create a sketch for the sketch inspiration site Skissedilla, and I had so much fun creating a sketch that was truly based around my use of Shimmerz Paints.
Here is the sketch that I made for them:

A little crazy perhaps... but I really wanted my use of Shimmerz to shine! Here is the layout that I created to go along with it...

"98% Fabulous, 2% Mischievous"

and some detail shots...

I used Vibez in Sea Monkey and Treasured Hymn, and Blingz in Island Salsa and Spiced Cider. I also used Pearlz in Samrock. Aren't these colors amazing together? I really wanted to pop some color in, after I texturized the background with some molding paste and stamps. And yes, I did fussy cut those flowers... not to worry -it only took me about 2 hours... but doesn't it look amazing on top of the Shimmerz?! Well worth the time I think! :) (I know, I am a tad crazy.)

Who needs patterned background paper when you create your own using Shimmerz?!

Shimmerz Coloringz, No Yoking did the trick!
I added a couple buttons to the center of the fabric flowers...
...then attached them to my layout!

Creating Texture

So last post I showed you some finished pages using Shimmerz but in thinking about it I realized that was probably started backwards. So let’s take a step backwards and I thought I would show you some new pages with just the backgrounds started. This time I also experimented with shimmerz and some other mediums like gesso and crackle past. Wait till you see the results.

A simple spritz of pink and a little orange – just one shot

This is just on regular, in fact I would even say low grade paper and yet the effects of the shimmerz are wonderful!

The first stage – background colors and then on the right I used some rubon letters – just randomly across the page, some of these will eventually get covered.

Love the start of this page. This was spritzed with some green Shimmerz – I just resprayed in some spots and that’s how I got the shading of some darker greens. AI randomly stamped some chandeliers and then just rubbed some of the gesso on my spatula right onto the top of the page. Again a lot of this will be covered up.

Some great green and blue – great combo that blue and green. ; ) I then stamped some letter and even stuck some letter stickers on – these backgrounds so motivate me to get creating even more on the page

Again the close up of blue and green – very little done to this page except a few pieces of paper stuck on (see lined paper on the left) and then some spritzes of color.

Okay and now for some textures - look at this. I wanted to try the shimmerz out with some other mediums I generally use. I spread crackle paste from GOLDEN onto the page, let dry, then spritzed, look at this:

I added some rub on letters for additional texture:

What fun those pages will be to journal on.

I also tried this out - I used some molding paste and spread it randomly on the page, once dry I added teh shimmerz paints from the paint pots. The glimmer at the bottom of the pot seems to have "stuck" to the modling paste and look at the beautiful effect it created:

In my next post in June I'll show you how I added to these pages to finalize the journal pages.

Tropical Beauty

Summer is almost upon us, and I'm starting to dream about the warm weather and lazy days at the beach or by the pool.  Here's a layout with pictures from our vacation a few years back. I had fun playing with the bright, summery colors.

I used Pink Stiletto Coloringz to make the little droplets.  This is my new favorite way (well, new for me at least) to use Spritz, Vibez and Coloringz.  I love the little bit of contrast it adds to a page.

I made the large blue flower and the little rolled rosettes with Fancy Pants' new Filter Papers.  I colored them with Jeni B Blue Vibez and Pink Stiletto Coloringz.

That's all for today!  I hope you have a great one!

Thinking of you

Hello everybody today I have another card to share with you, I created this card using some shimmeringz Heavy metal and Baby's breath to give that sparkle to my card...

For my chipboard heart I use shimmerz Angel wings and before it was dry I added some glitter. For the background where I stamped the sentiment I use Vibez Razzle Dazzle berry, Love the color!, once it was dry I stamped my image.

One thing I like is that after I finished my card I could add a light mist of more Heavy metal on the top of my ribbon and seam binding this one will get wet and it looks like that scrunched seam binding you see lately in some creations. This card was so much fun and full of sparkle!

Thank you so much for stop by, and to all the mother's out there: I want to wish you a HAPPY Mother's Day!!!

Happy NSD!

Happy National Scrapbooking Day!!
We want to know, have you used Shimmerz yet?
Want to know a little bit more about Shimmerz?

Our very own Educator, Irene Tan, explains it all perfectly...

"Shimmerz are not like your regular acrylic paint nor pearlescent paint. They are highly iridescent waterbased paint. They are non toxic, quick drying and will stick to nearly any surface.

Then they have Blingz and Pearlz. These also comes in jars like Shimmerz
but they are very different.

Blingz are like Shimmerz but their sparkles are more intense and thicker in consistency. Pearlz on the other end, are pearlescent waterbased paints that are more opaque than Shimmerz or Blingz.

Besides all these jars of paints, Shimmerz Paints also has it's series of fun bottles of misting paints. First of all, you have the Spritz.

Look at all those yummy colours! These Spritz will give you hours and hours of colourful misting fun!

Besides Spritz, Shimmez Paints also carried the Vibez! What is the differences of Vibez as compared to Spritz? Vibez are highly iridescent spritzed on paints that are more vibrant. Their deep colors are more intense as compared to Spritz.

And now to introduce Coloringz and Shimmeringz!
This is such a fun product! Coloringz are created with crayons in mind. They are highly pigmented spray paints that are flat when dry. It does what it is named which is coloring! Adding tons of colors to your projects would be so easy with this product!

Then, you have what I called the "must have"! The Shimmeringz!!

These are non-pigmented highly iridescent spritz that can be used on their own or with any of the products above. It is a medium that you could use to add that extra shimmer look to your projects! Want a metal look such as bronze, silver, gold, or a pearl look? Shimmeringz is the one to go for! It comes in five amazing different shimmerz!"
- Irene Tan

And there you have it! We hope you are reaching for your Shimmerz now, on this craft-tastic day... and if you don't have any handy, we hope you are reaching for your wallet - because you KNOW you need to buy some of these for your future projects.

Once again, Happy National Scrapbooking Day to all of our friends!
xx Heidi
