SHIMMERZ Hits the Wall!

Gracie wanted a pink room. . . like every little girl. I wanted to do something "just for her" that was unique and one of a kind. So I took metallic wall paint in same pink color and painted stripes. Then. . . I painted ribbons on one side of each stripe and topped them with Periwinkle Shimmerz. Then I painted teeny-tiny rosebuds and leaves around the ribbons. I used Pink and Green Olive Shimmerz on them. Click for a closer view.

Here's a close up on all those little rosebuds.

Then Gracie and I created 10 of these little beauties!

Of course we spritzed them with Concrete Shimmeringz. . .and WOW!!. . they really shimmer!

Her room now couldn't be more girlie! She loves it and I loved doing it! So go ahead. . . get crazy with your Shimmerz!

*Dapper & Dashing*

I can't get ENOUGH of Shimmerz Coloringz. I keep trying different things
with them...they are SO fun, so vibrant, so vivid! The color is AMAZING.

Then mixing them with Shimmerz Shimmeringz - wow, the effect is simply beautiful!

Today I made this layout of my "dapper & dashing" son:

(I may be a TAD bit biased...)
(photography by Andie Smith  @ eight18photography)

using some bubble wrap with Shimmerz Coloringz.
I simply sprayed the bubble wrap, saturating it with Anchors Away,
then immediately placing it on my layout in a long strip, as well as the lower left
of my cardstock:

After drying with a heat gun, I used Goldie Lox Shimmeringz all over the cardstock.
Next I sprayed star chipboard with Anchors Away & My Bleeding Heart Coloringz.
Then I used my heat gun to dry them, sprayed Goldie Lox on them, then adhered them to my layout.
Finally, I took the sprayers out of the bottles of Anchors Away, My Bleeding Heart &
Mama Sings The Blues & shook them over my layout in different places.

love how this turned out.
have fun experimenting with your Shimmerz...I sure did!

Texturizing with Shimmerz

Texture on my projects is a must, and I find that with very minimal paper, I can create SO MUCH texture with my Shimmerz paints! This week I created a layout for The Color Room, using tons of Shimmerz paints to create the visual layering that I wanted...

Hard to see when the photo is so small... so here are some close-ups...

I stamped cardboard with molding paste, and then after it all dried - I dripped and painted on top of the paste. What an amazing way to distress a page!

I used Spritz in Truffle, Vibez in Jeni B. Bleu, Coloringz in Anchors Away, Pearlz in Emerald Isle, and Shimmerz in Coal. A little dab here, a streak here, a mixing of the hues here - and Voila!

It's amazing what these paints can do!

Bath Pals

Whenever I create a layout showing pictures of the ocean or a swimming pool, I always reach for one of my blue Shimmerz bottles.  These beautiful Shimmerz hues seem to go hand in hand with water-themed pages.   I guess that's why I instinctively reached for on of my blue bottles when I created this bath and bubble themed page (though thankfully the bath water in our house is not blue).  In this case I used Jeni B Blue Vibez on the white cardstock.

As seen in Creating Keepsakes magazine.  Copyright Creative Crafts Group.  Published with prior permission from the publisher.

What I did first was spray the Vibez on cardstock.  Then I used a circle stamp, embossing ink, and silver leafing material to make the bubbles.  Last, I added a little glitter on top of Vibez inside the bubbles.

Enjoy your day!!

Beautiful Butterflies

I love to use chipboard shapes as stencils to create a Shimmery background on layouts.

This Imaginarium Chipboard butterfly combined with Jeni-b-Blue, Spritz; Anchors Away and Pink Stiletto, Coloringz created a breathtaking butterfly background.

I wish that I could photograph this layout in a way that you could see all the gorgeous Shimmerz sparkle!

This photo will have to do.

Have a wonderful day!

Spring fever!

I don't think I'm alone when I tell you that I am dying for SPRING!!  I can't wait for the bulbs, the flowering trees, the warm air and especially the sunshine.  Bring it!  On the subject of Spring, I've been inspired lately by rainbows and butterflies.  I created the cloud effect on these projects with a cloud template, a stipple brush and Blingz paint in Under The Sea.  I was also itching to use buttons...  a whole lot of buttons!!

Just look at how shimmery the Under The Sea Blingz is!
Blingz have a ton of glitter mixed into the paint!
After I created the rainbow I was reminded of a quote that I heard years ago that I just love..

"As a child I was told and I believed that there was a treasure buried beneath every rainbow.  I believed it so much that I have been unsuccessfully chasing rainbows most of my life.  I wonder why no one ever told  me that the rainbow and the treasure were both within me." -Gerald G. Jampolsky, MD

I love this quote so I printed it out on some vellum paper and added it under the rainbow.
I got this cloud template years ago from Stampin' Up!.  If you don't have one you could simply cut one out of cardstock or plastic.

I also tried this technique on some cards.  Here is one of them:

I did the stipple brush with the cloud template again on the white cardstock with Under The Sea Blingz.  For the butterflies, I used a bunch of the new Coloringz.  They are so bright!  I used Pink Stiletto, My Bleeding Heart, Mandarin Mai Tai, No Yoking, Lime In Da Coconut and Mama Sings The Blues.  I gave them all a bit of shimmer with Goldie Lox Shimmeringz, except for the red one (My Bleeding Heart) I used Heavy Metal on that one.  Also on the blue butterfly I added a little of the Under The Sea Blingz with my stipple brush.
Thanks for stopping by the Shimmerz blog today!

Get Happy!

I admit it, I am terribly obsessed with hot air balloons. Completely obsessed with their colors, their huge presence up close, the view when you see a couple dozen floating in the sky. It is simply breathtaking.

I wanted to portray a bit of exuberance :) in my layout below and Shimmerz madly took over and did it for me! I used Coloringz in No Yoking, Mandarin Mai Tai, Anchors Away, and My Bleeding Heart, and Vibez in Before Dawn, to create the background splatters, dots, and rings.

I then used Shimmerz in Fire Engine Red, Sunny Side Up, and Magenta to drip and frame the center photo.

Go on... splatter, drip, paint, make rings...
Get happy with your paints!

New layout over on the Educator Vlog

Check out my new video and layout over on the vlog...

Lucky Banner

I love decorating my house for the different seasons and holidays.  I really like St. Patrick's Day because I love the color green!  There is no shortage of choices for shades of green when it comes to Shimmerz products!  So many to choose from!  Two of my favorites are Peas Be Mine Pearlz and Key Lime Shimmerz.

On this "Lucky" banner, I used Peas Be Mine Pearlz on the bottom scallops and on the chipboard letters.  I also added just a little bit of Gold Glimmer Blingz on the chipboard letters.
I also used our new Coloringz in Mandarin Mai Tai on the scalloped paper.  I spritzed some Goldie Lox Shimmeringz to give it a little sparkle.
I stamped some shamrocks and then colored them in with Key Lime Shimmerz to embellish the banner.
Happy St. Patrick's Day!

*Jazzing Up With Color*

hi everyone..
today I'm sharing a project I repurposed with a little jazzing up...

This big "A" was on my fireplace...looking quite lonely, with just
gray paint..so I decided to add a kajillion vintage buttons I had in my stash
as well as the fun/funky fabric flowers:

2 of the flowers are made out of fabric I had in my stash
and the other 2 are made with muslin that I colored with
all my blues in my Coloringz, Vibez, Spritz...
for my blue flower.
for my red flower.
and the following Shimmeringz on my fabric flowers:  Concrete & Goldie Lox

I love how this pop of color with a little vintage whimsy dressed up my letter!
It's in my entry now...I want everyone to see it when they come to my door.

thanks for letting me share with you today!
