A Necklace...

My brother in law will be getting married this coming year and since he asked my oldest daughter, Ahna, to be a junior bridesmaid, all things pretty have been swirling through her head. She pores over my beads, jewelry pieces, scraps of flowers, ribbons, and trims, and today she got me in the mood too. All of a sudden while we were looking through the stash I am constantly collecting, I knew exactly what had to happen to my sterling silver owl pendant. It needed some Shimmerz love.

I used Shimmerz in AquaMarine and Antique Lace, and Shimmerz Pearls in PeasBMine to paint the owl pendant. (Isn't he chic?!)

(Look at her... all grown up and modeling for me, hee!) I added some Shimmerz Fire Engine Red to the already distressed Prima leaves for a bit more glam and then to finish off the necklace, I pulled a broken off pearl necklace through Shimmerz in Fire Engine Red and then while still wet pulled it through Shimmerz Pearls in Ballet Slipper.

Love this necklace... think I can get Ahna to loan it to me? Probably not.

Until next time, have a WONDERFUL start to the New Year!!

Shimmering Flowers -- New Video

Sometimes a girl needs a cute hair flower that matches her outfit. Right?

Learn how to make this sweet flower clip using only basic supplies: plain white muslin fabric, a stamp and of course, our favorite, Shimmerz Vibez. It is an easy and fun project that you can even do with your kids! Remember, Shimmerz products are completely non-toxic and clean up with water so this is a stain free project.

You can view this all new video on the Shimmerz Vlog.

Enjoy!

Add some sparkle to a handmade gift card holder

Gift cards are always very popular gifts for the holidays. This year I made some gift hard holders using supplies I had around the house. Did you know that an Altoid tin is the perfect size for holding a gift card? And since it's for the holidays, I decided to sparkle it up with a little Shimmerz and glitter.

I adhered glitter to the Altoid tin using Mod Podge.  I used Pixie Dust Blingz on the Prima flower and Hi Ho Silver Blingz on the little chipboard flourish.  I first inked the chipboard frame, then I added a little Blue By You Shimmerz to the edges.

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!

Shimmerz + Ink = Tea Dye Doilies...

The other day I was working on a project & I wanted to have a distressed looking doily
so I decided to pull out some of my favorite inks &  Shimmerz & experiment:
I coated my sponge brush with the ink, then sprayed Baby's Breath Shimmerz Spritz
and painted over the white doily:

this is how it looked when I finished playing:

it was exactly what I was looking for!
Then I sprayed a little more Shimmerz Baby's Breath on the tops of the doilies
and let them dry....

some I added pictures to, others I just left by themselves....

I was very happy with the end result.

and used them on this layout:

with a few closeups:

and...

all in all, I think it was a successful day mixing inks with Shimmerz...
sure made my doilies sparkle!

have a happy day!
Merry Christmas!

'Tis the Season

Christmas break...and the scrapping's easy...
especially with Shimmerz in hand!
With all of the holiday photos
sure to be flooding my desk a few days from now,
I set aside a little time to scrap one of my favorite subjects:
this kid.
Who really isn't a "kid" any more.
The holidays make me a little (okay, a lot) wistful,
thinking about how quickly time passes.
Thankfully, layouts like this can freeze time,
if only temporarily.
They can also distract a schmaltzy mama
from her nostalgic journey down memory lane
with pretty colors and fun products.
I used a BUNCH of Shimmerz products
to add some extra pop and shine to the circles on this layout.

I painted in the "1" and "3" on this paper above using
Blue By U Shimmerz Pearlz.

To add some variety to the lines on this patterned paper above,
I painted stripes of Mello Yello, Celery, and Blue By U.

The plain white polka dots on this patterned paper were cute,
but some Shimmerz paint here and there elevated them to uber-cute.

I am a huge fan of grid paper,
and a huge fan of paint --
how could I NOT combine the two?

A few spritzes of Shimmerz Vibez,
along with a dab of paint here and there
added details that helped me to celebrate
the here and the now of my daughter
turning 13.

Shimmerz Paintz and Spritz = a winter wonderland!

I used Spritz with a snowflake stencil for the background and traced and filled in additional snowflakes with Paintz.

I also used Paintz directly on chipboard for the "Still" title.

I had so much fun creating this layout...it's all Shimmerz!

Enjoy the season!

Glam it up with Shimmerz

My oldest daughter is so comfortable in front of a camera. I don't suppose it has anything to do with the fact that I have one in her face just about every second of everyday does it???

Every so often I find the perfect paper for the perfect photo. But end up frustrated because some how in the massive collection of alphabets I have. I can't find the perfect letters to complete my project. Well, after lots of digging I finally found the perfect font, but the color was off. So, I turned to my stash of Shimmerz.

I painted Blue by You Pearlz onto the sea foam colored thickers and voila, the perfect color.

Once that was over, I reached for my Pixie Dust Blingz, and Peas B Mine Pearlz to give my flower some life.

and here is the final project

Hanukkah Layouts

Hanukkah has already come and gone this year, which means I'm all done with my shopping and I can enjoy the rest of December.  I have a couple Hanukkah layouts to share today.

The journaling on this first layout reads: Every year we follow the established traditions of Hanukkah, like lighting the menorah, saying the prayers, playing dreidel, and opening presents on each of the eight nights.  But in our family we have a very special Hanukkah tradition.  Every night after we light the menorah, we turn up the volume on our favorite Hanukkah music, then Daddy, the girls and I all dance around the living room together.   I’m not talking about mellow dancing.  I’m talking about anything-goes-build-up-a-sweat-crazy-chicken dancing.   This is definitely one of our favorite family traditions – one that we will hopefully continue for years to come.   It’s usually just our little family of four, but if you happen to be invited to our house for Hanukkah dinner, you’d better bring your dancing shoes!!!

I used Tickle-Me-Turquoise Shimmerz on the alphas and Hi Ho Silver Blingz on the chipboard flourish:

Shimmerz looks beautiful on Technique Tuesday tiles.  I used Tickle-Me-Turquise and Blue By You on the center chipboard piece:

I used Coal Shimmerz on the chipboard letters:

Splatters....

are so easy to do. I love them so much. Here a few pages of my December Daily. You can check out more here.

I love how they add that little something special to a very simple page. (I caught the bf and tough guy taking a nap together)
I even splattered some on my photo = love.

The two colors I used here are Jenni B Bleu Vibez and Rocka-Fella-Blue Spritz.

What have you created lately using Shimmerz? Link me up, I would love to see!

Happy Creating

making a happy place with inks+paint

I hope you are having a great warm week! It is freezing on the east coast, so I need to create something that made me warm and happy to push past the cold weather we are experiencing! :) Nothing can fix the cold weather blues quicker than playing with some paint and mist! :) Today is all about the ink layers! I love to mix colors that do not "match" on top of each other.

These colors remind me of summer and our vacation in AZ this year. Hope you are inspired to create with colors that may not normally use or do not match with your photos!

Snow Storm Vibez

Happy Hump Day ladies, I hope everyone is having a wonderful week and your almost ready for the Holiday that is approaching oh so rapidly. I myself still have a few things to pick up and a few things to take back. And of course a ton of wrapping to do :(

This month I have been having some altered fun like never before. And with all the fun winter paper lines out my Snow Storm Vibez is getting a serious work out :)

For this project I used a white 6 inch styrofoam ball, dear lizzy paper, & rose brads, blue acrylic paint, paint brush, 12 inch wood sticks (found in the floral department) 2 inch scallop punch, and Shimmerz Snow Storm Vibez, oh yea and a hot glue gun.
I made a lot of paper roses, hot glued them to the styrofoam ball, after the ball was painted and dried (which takes about 30 minutes). After my ball was covered in roses I used a green floral stem at the bottom of the bouquet as its stem. I covered the stem with Dear Lizzy ribbon. And sprayed as many layers of Snow Storm it took to make me happy :) It's hard to see the full effect on camera but it is so beautiful in person.

here is a close up (can you see the snow storm vibez on the petals of the flowers?) so pretty. It Looks like Shimmery water on each petal.

And here is the entire project

Thanks for letting me share. Snow Storm Vibez has quickly become an instant fav and go to product for that perfect touch for me. Happy Scrapping ladies!!!
