Halloween Wonderland

It's almost Halloween, are you ready? Halloween is a time of fun, candy, carvings, beautiful fall colors, and my favorite dressing up. Another favorite part of Halloween for me is the child like wonderland that is reflected in this time of year. It's so whimsy, free spirited, and happy. So I decided to take that approach in my layout.

The layout is covered in Shimmerz. The background paper is sprayed with Truffle Spritz, then painted with Gold Glimmer Blingz.
It gives the perfect amount of sparkle, and additional interest to the background.

Each of the punched ruffle layers were painted with Gold Glimmer Blingz, and sprayed with Snow Storm Vibez (a fav for the holidays).

The Prima flower is perfect for this mixture of paper. And the Licorice Spritz, and Pixie Dust Blingz add a beautiful sparkle to it. The ends of the flower petals were brushed with my finger tips using some stickles.

Here is the final projects

I hope this has inspired you to create your own Fall Wonderland project. Happy crafting girls :)

Have a safe, and crafty weekend!!

Halloween Card

hi all!
I wanted to show you a fun Halloween card I made.
I used Grape Escape on my white/black polka dot ribbon. I love Grape Escape so much that I think I am going to spritz my whole body in it and go to work that way. Nobody will notice, ya think? :D
I used Spritz Concrete and Purple Passion for the crow and 'happy halloween' cut outs.
hope you have enjoyed!
HAPPY HAUNTING!

Halloween Candy Bags!!

My boys are all grown {20 and 24} so I don't have the pleasure of dressing little ones up in Halloween costumes anymore. I do, however, love to pass out candy to all the little ghosts and goblins in my neighborhood.

Using my Shimmerz 'Coal' paint I stamped on canvas and made these little bags for my next door neighbor's little son. The cool thing about these little bags is that after the little trick or treater empties the candy out of them, my friend can stuff them with papers towels or something else soft and put them out as little pillow decorations.

Happy Halloween!

Halloween is coming and I'm ready. This year my son wishes to celebrate Halloween with his friends, and he asked me to plan a small party. For the occasion I made two Halloween invitation cards and the bags for candies for the children.

For  the black invitation card I used Pizie Dust Blingz to draw the cobweb.
For the ghost invitation card I used Coal Shimmerz on the edges and Angel Wings Shimmerz to make the ghost  glimmer.
I created the boxes from a white sheet paper. To decorate them I used different stencil and many colours of Vibez. I sprayed to create the background of the boxes: Hermit the Frog, Fiery Fiesta, Grape Escape and Before Dawn Vibez.
To make the letters, first I draw them with Enamel Accents Black and then I brushed Peas B Mine, Carrot top and Papa Purple Pearlz.
Have a great day with creativity!

Boo to you!

Most people who know me well know that Halloween is not my favorite holiday. I do adore fall, though! I love the warm fall colors. For my Halloween project for Shimmerz, I used my favorite shade of Vibez which is Fiery Fiesta. I love the gold shimmer in this product!! I painted these big chipboard letters with some orange acrylic paint and the spritzed them with the Fiery Fiest Vibez. I had to photograph my banner with my sweetgum tree because the colors of the leaves are just stunning right now!

Have a happy and safe Halloween!

Trick or Treat

Posted by Stacy Cohen

Here’s a layout featuring my little cheerleaders on Halloween last year. As the girls’ candy-filled pumpkins got heavier and heavier while trick-or-treating, my husband and I ended up holding their pom-poms for them. Isn’t that the way it always happens . . . they get the candy and the parents get stuck holding the pom-poms?

I made the fabric rosettes and colored the white muslin fabric with Shimmerz:
To make these fabric rosettes, I first cut long strips of white muslin fabric. I wanted the edges to be smooth edges without any loose threads, I folded both edges (lengthwise) in towards the center of the strip, and then I adhered the fabric in place with fabric glue (Fabri-tac). Starting at one end of the fabric strip, I rolled the fabric around itself to create a spiral, twisting and turning the fabric strip as I went along. I added a dab of Fabri-Tac every so often to keep the fabric in place. Once finished, I colored the rosettes with Licorice Shimmerz Spritz and Espresso Shimmerz paint.

I hope your Halloween is filled with lots of treats (but no tricks!).

Halloween Tag Invitations

Hi all! Are you all ready for Halloween?

I made some fun Halloween invitation using tags.
I learned this technique from Tim Holtz and was curious to see if it worked with Shimmerz paints. It did!
I sprayed some colors down on my craft mat and laid my blank tag, face first, down in the paint.
Then, I dried with my heat gun.
I then, took my tag and slapped it, face down again, down in the paint a couple of times...drying with my heat gun again afterwards. (that will give you layers of colors)

I then used my Tim Holtz Halloween stamps to create these fun images.

Below is the same tag, but just at a different angle, catching the light. See how shimmery and cool it looks!

I then stamped an RSVP message on the back. Fill out the info and voila! Fun Halloween invitations!

Hope you guys have enjoyed!
Here is the product breakdown:
Shimmerz Vibez: Fiery Fiesta, Grape Escape, Hermit the Frog
Shimmerz Spritz: Concrete, Purple Passion, Sapphire
Shimmerz Pearlz: Peas B Mine, Green with Envy, Grammie Berrie

Happy Haunting!

Deck the Walls

Around here, Halloween is a big deal.
My daughter puts more thought into her Halloween costume
than she does for the whole of all of her outfit choices for the year.
My husband, always a practical joker,
stocks up on motion-activated spiders,
glowing goo, and do-it-yourself headstones.
He came home from his shopping excursion a few weeks ago,
bags brimming with Halloween mischief,
and eagerly announced, "I even got you something."
That something was a pair of clip-on devil's horns,
which my dear husband bought for me,
thinking that I'd be thrilled to wear them in front of my students.
Did I mention that I teach at a Catholic school?

And what's my take on Halloween?
I'm mostly just amused at watching my family go crazy
(well, crazier than usual),
but this year, even I made a contribution
to the household Halloween hype,
with some help from Shimmerz.
I used Shimmerz Vibez, Shimmerz Spritz, and Shimmerz Pearlz
to dress up the Halloween garland that I created for our living room walls.
Assembling the garland was simple.
I cut a bunch of circles from Halloween-themed papers,
and outfitted them with some shimmery colors, sparkle, and shine.
When they dried, I fed them one by one
into my sewing machine, leaving a little space between each one.
Then it was time to deck the walls for Halloween.
Not only does the garland add a Halloween-y festiveness to the household,
it also earns the approval of my wonderfully freaky family.

Halloween Candy Basket

For this Halloween season, I put away the old black plastic bowl that I normally use for handing out candy, and tailor made this Halloween candy basket.

I wanted to decorate my candy basket with all kinds of texture. I began by brushing the entire naked basket with a thin coat of Spritz Mud Pie. The houndstooth is felt, the polka dot is wired ribbon, and the orange pieces are off-white fabric that I saturated with Spritz Vibez Fiery Fiesta.

Here is the fabric 'before and after' using my Spritz Fiery Fiesta:

And here is the finished basket ...

I love how yummy {with or without the candy} it turned out.

Festive Candles and Shimmerz!

Using simple mason jars of different sizes I created these fun candle holders.

Shimmerz products work great with crate paper. I smimply cut strips from the plane white crate paper, and sprayed the strips with different shimmerz spritz and vibes.
After they crate paper dried, I used Mod Podge to adhere it to the mason jars. After they were dry, I applies another coat of the Mod Podge over the top to seal it on the jars.
In the daylight:

In the evening lit:

If you enjoy making fun embellishments...shimmerz works great on shrinky dinks too! :)

products used:
Vibes: Rusty Bottom, Before Dawn, Hot Fudge
Spritz: Barn Door, Tucson Sun, Plum Pudding

Shimmery Pumpkins

I love Autumn! The cool crisp mornings, the changing leaves, more baking and definitely more crafting.

In Autumn Halloween arrives, Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. The first thing that comes to mind when I think of Halloween is: PUMPKINS!

Pumpkins, pumpkins, pumpkins.

I created some simple pumpkins for my "Trick or Treat" Halloween card using Shimmerz Vibez and Shimmerz Pearlz.

First, I cut out several ovals using Ivory Cardstock, then spritzed them with "Fiery Fiesta" Vibez.

Once the Vibez dried, I added some "Carrot Top" Shimmerz Pearlz. To finish, I just chalked the edges and glued three ovals together. Simple!

I used the same technique for this "Zombie Virus" layout:
For the tag I used "Peas Be Mine" Shimmerz Pearlz, I simply dripped some paint on the tag then held it upright. Spooky, right?

Thanks for stopping by the Shimmerz Blog today. I hope you enjoy this beautiful time of year!
