Back to Basics

Over the last few months, life has been crazy so I have not had the opportunity to get creative as often as I would like. I created some cards recently and figured I better get back to basics and start off simple... ease myself back into my creative groove! Last Spring I bought these beautiful papers and embellishments from The Girls Paperie.  I have been dying to create with them. I grabbed my Baby's Breath Spritz and made the pretty floral paper even prettier and shimmery on these first two cards.

On this third card I used some of the latest and greatest colors from Shimmerz Paints.  On the flower I used Pop Art Pink Vibes mixed with a little Ruby Spritz to get just the shade of pink I was looking for.  I used the new Peas Be Mine Pearlz on the leaves.

I guess it's time to put away the Spring and Summer papers and start designing with some warm fall ones!  I'm kind of in denial that the cold weather is coming because of this HOT weather we are having here in Idaho lately!
Happy Fall!

Fun with Chipboard Frames

Happy Wednesday!!
I was inspired by the brushed finish on the butterfly bench that my niece is sitting on in my photo. I wanted to use something "brushed" looking on my page, but had nothing in my stash that suited me.

I immediately turned to my Shimmerz Paints, colored chipboard frames, and a piece of sand paper. First I distressed the chipboard frames with the sand paper, then I lightly painted the frames using a foam brush. I painted them in a "dusting" fashion until I got the brushed finish look I was going for.

The outcome is so cool ... I'm super excited how they turned out!! Check 'em out...

Let it drip

I don't think I can live without Shimmerz on my projects anymore. Adding a little mist and paint made all my projects unique and fun...like on this layout I am sharing today.

Inspired by Julie Bonner's sketch, I made it my own by simply adding some colors and let it drip. On this page, I have used Shimmerz Vibez Pop Art Pink, a cotton candy pink with a HUGE gold shimmer to it, and Jeni B Bleu. The key to this technique is to spray it close to the paper.

Fall is in the air...earthy tones w/ Shimmerz

I don't think I could ever get enough of misting when I sit down and create. I keep all my mists nice and close to add just the right touch...just looking at their beautiful colors gives me instant inspiration!

This month I created a Layout and a Card. I love using different masking techinques to creat shadows and accents. I used one of my fiskars punches to create the flowers and assembled them on the background paper with removable adhesive. After I sprayed, I took the punched scallop circles off the page and crumpled them slightly to use on the page after I started placing everything.
My two favorite colors I used are the Shimmerz Spritz Mud Pie and Vibes Rusty Bottom...such great earthy tones...and LOVE them for FALL! :)

I also made this card for my Cousin who just lost her husband. I really didn't want to have anything too frilly for this particular card....I used Shimmerz Spritz BambooLeaf and and Shimmerz Vibes Before Dawn. I spelled out the word "Sorry" with a chipboard alphabet as a mask, and once it dried, I stamped the word "Sorry" over the masked image. After I stamped, I colored in the stamp with the shimmerz Mossy Stone. Love the the color combination for this card.

Thanks so much for looking! Have fun with your Shimmerz and try something new and fun this week! :)
Have a great week,
Kimberly

All colours of shimmerz

Hello, crafty-girls, today I am here with two projects for you!

Do you love to write? I do! I created three small notebooks to collect memories, thoughts and words.

So, let's start! I embossed every cover with Cuttlebug and I coloured  them using lots of Shimmerz paints.

For this yellow, I used: for the background Sunny Shimmerz, for the leaves Celery Shimmerz and for the flowers Magenta, Lilac, Orange Sherbet, Ultra Marine, Royal Red, Sugar Plum and Carmel Shimmerz.

For this light blue, I coloured the background with watercolors and then I sprayed Snow Storm Vibez.

And finally, I used many Pearlz to create a cover very cheerful: Blue Into Town, Grammie Berrie, Papa Purple, Sunny Side Up, Peas Be Mine, Carrot Top, Blue By You; Sam Rock, Luscious Lilac.

I also coloured the back of the small notebooks with Shimmerz Spritz.

For the second project, I prepared four tags as the second project. I coloured their background mixing different colours.

For the green tags I used a mixture of Blue By You, Peas Be Mine and Green with Envy Pearlz.

For the red tags, I colored the background with a mixture of Royal Red, Marigold and Candle Light Shimmerz.

Have a great day with creativity!

Paint, Possibly.

Even if you don't consider yourself a painter,
that doesn't mean you shouldn't consider
the possibilities of paint on your projects.

If you are an "everything in its place"
kind of scrapper, painting might be a challenge at times.
Just remember that one of the most liberating aspects
of adding paint to your layouts is that it doesn't have to be controlled.
Everything can still have a place while also being a little "displaced."
There's no need to stay within the lines.
In fact, it's when paint ventures outside of the lines
that it lends a bit of funk and charm to pages.

To create the background for the page below,
I painted and stamped in layers.
I brushed a coat of Fire Engine Red over the back of a lined stamp,
and stamped the image nine times,
adding a little more paint as the image became lighter.
I repeated this process with Grammie Berry and Luscious Lilac,
stamping over the original image,
and not worrying whether the lines overlapped.
A bit of Vertigre Vibez action
added a kind of "coffee stain" effect on the background.

I went a little paint-crazy on the next layout,
and didn't worry for a moment
about staying in the lines.

I used a small brush to fill in the loops in my handwriting
with Fire Engine Red and Blue By U paint.

I also created a few lines of my own...
I created the lines bordering the page
by brushing paint on the edge of a thick card
(a piece of cardstock, cardboard, or fakey junk-mail credit card would work, too)
and sliding the card across the layout.
There are so many painterly possibilities!
If you've got paint all over your fingers (and not just your layouts),
consider yourself one happy scrapper.

Open Up your Vibez

Hi, it's Lucy here with another idea for using your Shimmerz Vibez or Spritz - Open them up and paint with them - you can achieve some wonderful washes and watercolor looks.

I just shared a video on the Ed Team Blog this week where you can see how I created this look here: Video Tutorial

A close up of Before Dawn Vibez used as a wash with some splatter in Toadlee Pearlz.

I love the vintage look it added to my paper!

Thanks and see you soon!

Pop Art Pink Party!

Painting + Pop Art Pink Shimmerz Vibez + Me =

It's no secret pink is my FAVORITE color.
When I get a chance to work with it,
I'm like a girl with an unlimited balance
credit cardin Nordstroms! ;D
But seriously...
I love the chance to use pink whenever, however, wherever, IF ever!
Shimmerz sure makes some LOVELY pink shades.
Pop Art Pink Vibez is truly delicious!
It reminds me of cotton candy....
with a bite! (that would be the shimmer part, hee!)
I used it like mad on this layout, misting the word paper and several of
the embellishments.

Besides being a pink freak...I'm also a sucker for polka dots.
Any shape or size. I'm all about the polka dots.
It's fun making your own. I discovered the other day when I was using
this My Minds Eye product from For The Luv of Art, just how fun!
I took an empty toilet paper roll, painted the ends (pink then brown)
and stamped them on my page.  Some I drew journaling lines, others...
I sprayed Shimmerz Pop Art Pink through the tube, giving it an even
circle flow (and it didn't mist anywhere else on my page)
I love how that turned out!
(you can do this with any variations of color, go grab a toilet paper
roll and try it yourself. I'd love to hear what you think!)

Oh and speaking of For The Luv of Art...
did you know they're having a Shimmerz contest?
YES!!
Check out all the information RIGHT here:
For The Luv of Art September Shimmerz Contest
(you have until the 27th...so hurry!!)

on this card (that was originally the My Minds Eye chipboard album)
I used the Pop Art Pink on the butterflies that I punched from Kraft cardstock.
Oh YUM. Seriously.  Even if pink isn't your favorite color,
or you think you can't use it because you have a boy...
you're so wrong....it's got the perfect shimmer (it's a coppery shimmer)
and when it hits any cardstock (especially kraft!)
it's like a sparkling jewel of some kind.

I also used it ALL over the chipboard...I wish you could see
JUST how shimmery it is!

here's a closer look:
so if you haven't tried Pop Art Pink, you have to.
It's seriously delicious!
Have a happy day,
thank you for letting me share with you today!

Bouy Papa, BOUY!!!

HAPPY FRIDAY ALL!
Any big plans for the weekend?

journaling: after gpa told you about the bouys, you had to point every one out and yell, "bouy, papa, BOUY!"

So, this Sass paper is already full of funness! (word? lol) So, just adding a little bit of Shimmerz spritz makes it look like there is ALL KINDS of layers! (also with the help of a few pop dots)

I used a mix of Tuscan Sun, Red-y or Not and Sea Monkey.
You know what I REALLY love about the spritz?? I only use a couple of spritz and I get the coverage I need. If anyone has seen my previous work, you know that I have been a mister for a while. I have always used other mists and Shimmerz has BETTER coverage. You know what that means?? It saves you money.
I love that!!!
What do you love best about Shimmerz?

Handsome Boy

A little Shimmerz can go a long way!
I love to use the Shimmerz Paintz as pin dots. On this particular layout of my son, I created pin dot borders in each corner.
A little Spritz always sparkles up the background.
Nothing adds Beauty to a layout like Shimmerz Blingz!

It's As Simple As Painting and Stamping

by Carrie Ferrier
I will admit it, there were times in the past that I left my big stash of stamps in the cabinet because it felt like too much trouble for this clean and simple scrapper to use them.

That totally changed when I started using Shimmerz Paints. My giant stash of stamps are no longer hidden in the cabinet; and I rarely do a page anymore without using my Shimmerz Paints with my stamps.

For today's design, these are the 'ingredients' I used for stamping and painting; a heart stamp, a paper doilie, Shimmerz Blingz, and my foam brush.

After cutting around the stamped heart from the middle of the doilie, and cutting the painted edge off one end of the doilie, I added them to my layout.

Shimmerz on Canvas

By Stacy Cohen

It's fun to play around with Spritz and Vibez on different types of fabric to see what what kind of effect you can get. I love the way Shimmerz sprays look on canvas.   Here's a layout using Sea Foam Spritz on a piece of one of Prima's screenprinted canvas sheets.  The canvas really brings out the vibrant color of the Spritz.

As seen in the July/August 2010 issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine. Copyright Creative Crafts Group. Posted with prior permission from the  publisher.

I colored the rose (which was originally white) with Ruby Spritz.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
