Faux the love of it...

Happy Last day of February! This month has come and gone with the blink of an eye. Earlier this month I had fun making my own masks and coming up with my own faux finished journaling tag using Shimmerz new Vibez.

For my "faux" mask, I created a fast and easy border for my layout by using Shimmerz Vibez "Penny Pincher" and two sheets of printer paper. I simply placed the printer paper in the middle of my layout to cover up the inside part of the cardstock that I didn't want painted. Next, I simply sprayed around the edges of the paper and then pulled the printer paper away when I was finished.

It left me with this fabulous and easy border that helped draw the eye towards the middle of my layout, all the while giving it this cool antiqued look.

For my next "faux" finish, I used once again Shimmerz Vibez in "Penny Pincher" and a plain ol paper towel. I traced out a label shaped journaling tag onto a piece of cardstock then I liberally spritzed with the Penny Pincher Vibez, enough so that it pooled up on the paper. Then I took a paper towel, wadded it up and patted over the top of the Vibez to remove part of the paint. What was left behind was a beautiful "faux" leather almost looking finish.

Adding a few spritzes of "Rusty Bottom" to the background of my paper helped bring out some of the light patterned details and tie the pieces together for a finished piece:

Why not try a few of these FAST and EASY techniques to see what kind of faux look you can achieve? Then come share them here with us!

Heart & Chains

How about closing the month of love with this project? What a good idea!!!

The hearts are cut out from the canvas.

First I glued on the canvas some newspaper clippings with gel medium then I stamped the hearts and the word "LOVE" using red and black colors.

I used the gold film to emphasize some hearts.

In order to make the background bright I sprayed all over the canvas with Red-Y or not Vibez.

I got the drops of color spraying Red-Y or not Vibez, very close to the canvas, and then I added a drop of Shimmerz Pearlz Pearl.

I cut out hearts from canvas and I sewed them with black thread.

I linked hearts with chains and I added the red pearls sprayed with Red-Y or not Vibez.

This is the canvas after having cut out the hearts.

Have a great day with creativity!

The garden on the lamp

This time my artwork is an altered piece: an Ikea or similar lampshade covered with a piece of sticky canvas from Hellmuth Studio.

First I covered the lampshade with the canvas, then I colored it with acrylics paint, and at the last I colored the background with blue and white acrylic in large brushes.
I made the leaves of grass with a stamp and a green StazOn, on which I sprayed Vertigre Shimmerz Vibez.

I placed a swirl stencil on the top of the lampshade and I sprayed Sunset Strip Shimmerz Vibez.
I painted the clouds with Pearl Shimmerz Pearlz and I finished with Blue Sky, December Sky and Tickle-Me-Tourquoise Shimmerz, blending the colors together.

The final touch: I punctured the canvas and I added the flower eyelets (so the ligth can filter), then I applied yellow rhinestones to simulate the rays of the sun and I finished the bottom with a white ribbon.

For the base of the lampshade I used a small bottle of glass. First I painted it with white acrylic, then I covered everything with Distress crackle paint. I sprayed this background with Sunset Strip Shimmerz Vibez. I highlighted the drops with Tickle-me-turquoise Shimmerz. Finally I added with ribbon and much rhinestones.

Have a day with creativity!

**Shimmerz + Denim = SWOON**

So the other day my cute husband was throwing out some old
jeans he no longer wears. I stopped him and asked if I could
have them.   Of course he KNEW why I was asking...
not to wear them
(as if I could fit! he's 3343333 kabillion times taller! LOL)
but to create with them...

I couldn't wait to start cutting.  When I went to my crop the other
night, I did. I cut and cut and cut.
I wanted to try denim roses...
you know, those flowers are HUGE right now.
So I made some rosebuds, some loose, some tight
...then SHIMMERZ'ed the daylights out of them.
Well honestly, I didn't have
to do much.  The denim soaks up Shimmerz quite
nicely:

I sprayed Vibez
in RazzleDazzle Berry and used my heat gun to speed up
the drying process.
Next thing I did was use Shimmerz
Pearlz in Ballet Slipper on the edges of my rosebuds.
My final touch on the flowers was to use PixieDust Blingz
at the tips, giving them a bit more shimmerz'y shine.
here's another closeup:

I love how they turned out!!
Here's  my completed layout:

Thank you for letting me share with you today!
Remember...don't throw out the denim's just yet...
Make them meet their match with Shimmerz....

Have a lovely day!

A canvas to dream!

Hi! This is my first project for Shimmerz: I'm very excited!

I fully colored the background with Shimmerz and Blingz: they are available in many colors; it's easy to get a good result, always different. I love to use them with the brushes: they make the background bright and warm.

I used Pixie Dust Blingz to illuminate of the picture.

Have a great day with creativity!

Mixing it up!

For today I would like to share with you a little experiment that I did using different Shimmerz products on my layout. With Shimmerz, the effects is endless that is why I recommend everyone to play with it.

I have used My Scrapbook Nook's February kit on this layout featuring BasicGrey's Origins Collection.

Background Paper: Watercolor paper
Patterned Papers: Basic Grey Origins
Alpha: Basic Grey Chip Alphabets and Bella Blvd
Paint: Shimmerz, Spritz and Blingz
Chipboard: Basic Grey Origins Chip Stickers
Stickers: Basic Grey Origins Element Stickers
Flowers: Prima Marketing Hydrangeas
Others: buttons from my stash and Basic Grey Memo pad journaling spot

Photobucket

Since I will be using a thick amount of paint, I decided to use watercolor paper for my background paper. I first sprayed the middle part with Shimmerz Tuscan Sun Spritz and dropped a few amounts of Blingz and Shimmerz (Gold Glimmer, Golden Wheat, and Key Lime) randomly on my background paper. I gave it a few minutes to dry but I made sure that it is not fully dried. Afterwards, I started blotting the paintbrush on the paints to spread the color. This will create a textured like background and the blending is just magnificent.

And of course, ever since I discovered the lovely effect of Spritz on flowers, I added a little amount of Tuscan Sun Spritz on my Prima hydrangeas to make it shimmery.

So don't hesitate to experiment and mix match those Shimmerz products. Play and have fun! The effects are endless and it will make your projects more artistic and special. Feel free to share with us your discoveries.

Thanks for dropping by

Bring on Spring!

Well I don't know about your neck of the woods, but over here in Oregon, the sun has been shining, the birds have been chirping and Spring has sprung into full motion!

Here is a layout I created about Zoe's Lemonade Stand that she held outside of our house last night. Shimmerz Rolling in the Hay Vibez was the perfect accompaniment for the layout! With its beautiful yellow yet coppery notes, it left a beautiful sheen to the layout without overpowering it.
The finished piece looks like this:
And yep, that is a real lemon on there!

If Spring happens to be breaking out all around you, grasp it and create something bright and cheery!

Shimmerz me everything!!!

I have to make an effort NOT to put Shimmerz on everything. It doesn't matter if it's Vibez, Pearlz, Shimmerz, or my personal fav's Blingz. I just want to Shimmerize EVERYTHING,lol!!!

The small chipboard heart was colored with an American Crafts metallic silver marker. Then painted with Hottie Pink Blingz. Once dried, I painted over that with Hi Ho Silver Blingz. I love the results, the colors blend together so beautifully.
The beautiful paper rose was sprayed with my favorite Spritz Licorice, then a little Hi Ho Silver was brushed on top.

On this layout there is Hi Ho Silver Blingz is everywhere. On the chipboard heart, the purple heart, the chipboard flourish, and the Kraft envelope. Can you tell Hi Ho Silver is a fav or what? LOL.

On this layout I went with an all time favorite technique. This large scallop chipboard heart was sprayed with Licorice Spritz, painted with Scattered Straw crackle paint, clear rock candy crackle paint, then to add the finishing Shimmer to it Pixie Dust Blingz was painted on top. The effects are soo cool

And last but far from least. I am in total love with vibez. Here I created a stripped background using Grape Escape, and distressed the edges with Hermit the Frog.

Happy Scrapping ladies!!!

Stamping with Shimmerz

I have been using these large background rubber stamps for my cards lately. I spray the stamps with Shimmerz Spritz and I wanted to show you how I do that.
These stamps are large enough to cover a standard size card. Spray the stamp with Red-y or Not Shimmerz Vibez. Lay the card on top of the stamp and rub with your hand. I like to do it this way because I can see where I position the paper, especially here where there are straight lines.
This is what it looks like after you remove the paper.
For the second layer I used patterned paper and stamped it with the same stamp two times. Once using Licorice Shimmerz Spritz and then with Red-y or not Shimmerz Vibez.
The next two cards are done the same way. I used Sea Foam Shimmerz Spritz for both mixed with a little Licorice Shimmerz Spritz. Once I have the stamp out I spray and stamp several pieces at once, that way I have something to use later and it is dry and ready to go.
