At Dusk a mixed media Canvas

Lucy Edson here, with a mixed media canvas I created with Shimmerz and few other products. Let me share a little of my process with you. I began by building some texture onto a 12x12 canvas with Liquitex Natural Sand- texture gel - this stuff is awesome - I linked it to the catalog if you want some for yourself. ;) I applied it with a palette knife along the top and bottom edges and let it dry. Then a coat of gesso and blended some acrylic paint in soft colors. Then I used Shimmerz Spritz in Baby's Breath for a pearly glimmer. Then laid out my design and attached the Prima papers with gel medium. I'll add some notes about the details with the close-ups but here is the completed project - one of my personal favorites to date.

I feel it really captured the soft feel of twilight at the beach and the freedom of childhood - two things I adore.

You can see some of the irridescent effect of the Shimmerz, below, and I cut out the butterflies from a Prima papers and painted it with some Shimmerz in Pixie Dust - love the glitz and shine.

To mimic the sunset, I added some Shimmerz Blinz in Gold Gimmer - very glittery!!

A close-up of my embellishment cluster - don't you love the new Prima flowers! Dreamy! I made some wire wraps with pearl beads to add a sheen and dimension. Also, added some hand-dyed scrim to add some softness and the feel of seaweed.

Notice the great texture from the sand texture and sheen!

The side angle - I am in love with this piece!!

It is so easy to take your ideas for a layout and turn them into a home decor project like this! Enjoy the process and have a wonderful day!

Lucy

Tomorrow we have 1 more to share before we announce the winners from the blog hop :) YAY!!! I can't wait to see who gets to play with the new colors! WARNING - Very Addictive!!!!

Today we have Jamie with a very colorful gorgeous project :) Here is what she has to say about the New Colors:

I am having so much fun with the new Shimmerz vintage colors and I know that you will too. For my project today I used the NEW Vintage Wine and Mossy Stone Shimmerz colors, I love how rich the new vintage colors are. I wanted to make my butterfly sparkle so I painted a scrap of SU Elegant Eggplant cardstock with the vintage wine and another scrap of Garden Green cardstock with Mossy Stone. Once they were dry I punched them out with my butterfly punch and layered them together to make one butterfly. I loved the look of the Vintage wine so much that I decided to also paint my scalloped nestie layer to give it a bit more pop behind the image.

Hopefully I have inspired you to hurry and get these AMAZING new vintage colors so you can start playing too. You will be glad you did!!

Isn't it so pretty! It's amazing the things that you can do with Shimmerz. Grab some up, and see what you can create. Remember to let us know when you have created something. We would love to see it. ALSO, you only have today and tomorrow to go through our Education Teams Video Blog Hop. There are so many goodies up for grabs, you won't want to miss out!

Shimmerz + Home Decor = FABULOUS!!

Hiya!! So I have been in the mood for home decor lately, and I completed a project today that I am in love with thanks to Shimmerz!! I bought this cute little door hanging at Hobby lobby but when I hung it on the door it just didn't stand out. So I decided I would paint the letters so that you could see them. (I took this picture after I started painting Hay Rides, it was yellow before).

Once it was painted it looked great but I knew it needed a bit more, so SHIMMERZ to the rescue!! I pulled out my choc-o-lat shimmerz and got to work putting on one more layer.

It looks so much better now, I love it!!

Here is a close up and you can see the shimmerz, but....

When the sun is shinning right on it it looks AMAZING!! Hopefully I have inspired you to use some shimmerz and give your fall decor a little face lift!!

And It Continues.....

The Shimmerz Galz have went above and beyond the call with their fabulous projects with the new color releases. Today is not any different.

Here is a seasonal make from Kim Dellow which uses the lovely Antique Lace, Mossy Stone and Vintage Wine Shimmerz paints. Check out the leaves!!! Gorgeous!!! Makes me want to go and grab a sweater!

Next up is Melissa Sauls and WOW!!! Check out these BOO-tiful cards she has created with the new colors :) Spooktacular LOL In Melissa's own words.

Shimmerz has gone Vintage and I love it!!! I was thrilled to hear that the new colors for the release would be vintage and they did not disappoint once I saw them!! I tried to use all of the new colors as much as I could on one card, LOL! Here are my “vintagy” samples.

A lot of distressing here my friends! J For my first card, I went for a Halloween vintage card.

Here, I used Kraft cardstock as my base and spritzed it all in the new mini Spritz (WOOOOHOOO!!) Treasured Hymn. How about those new mini spritzes?!? I think it’s an awesome idea…especially when going on your crops since you can pack a bunch with little space. I also used another new mini spritz, Licorice, spritzed all over both the large layer of designer paper and the “Spooky” card. Now, you’d think that spritzing the black would make your paper look dark, but it just make it look awesome is what it did!! TOTALLY vintage! I didn’t stop there though….I painted the new Vintage Wine atop both my flower AND the drippy goo edge punched cardstock under the ribbon. See it here!

For my next card, I wanted a little more Shabby vintage chic card.

Ok, I just smothered the new Wed Wagon Shimmerz all over this card, LOL! For my edging, I distressed and then dipped a sponge right into the lid of the shimmerz pot and just spread on the outer edges of my card. The effect looks just wonderful and VINTAGE! J Not only did I use the Wed Wagon there, but I also painted it on my flower and sponged it right on top of the glittered chipboard.

I hope you have enjoyed all the samples you have seen so far. I’m just thrilled to have the latest colors and I’m sure that you will be too! Thanks for looking!

OK!!! Now that everyone should be Super Inspired :) Get creating! We would love to see what you have made! Remember you have until Thursday now to make your way through the video blog hop! We will announce the winners this Friday, October 2!! So get hopping!!! Can't wait to see what is in store for tomorrow *giggle*

Have a great Fall day!

New Fall Creations From The Design Team!!

So, are you all ready to see some more from our Fabulous Design Team??? Guess what??? You get another week YAY!!! We decided that we were going to extend the New Release week to Two Whole Weeks of Design Team things that make you go mmmmmmmmmmm!!! Plus, that gives everyone another week for the video blog hop also :) So if you would still like to hop along the video train, just click here. Too many delicious things to cram into 1 week!

First up today is Jana! Check out what she did and what she had to say!

I really love the rich colors of this new release by Shimmerz and I knew immediately that I wanted to use them on a page of my daughter's first day of school. I used Jenni Bowlin's Kindergarten Classic Label Die cut paper as the base to my layout. I loved the look of the school lines printed on the paper and didn't want to cover them up. I decided to use Rock-a-Fella Blue Spritz and a fancy journal block by Melissa Frances as a mask to create a home for my title and journaling. I placed the journal blocks on my page and then used Rock-a-fella Blue Spritz over them. After a few minutes, when the paper was dry, I added an outline along the edges of the Spritzed shape for more definition. Next I built my page, adding my title and journaling to the appropriate spaces. I love how the smoky blue of the Rock-a-fella Blue Spritz looks here with the brown and red colors on this page. If you know me, you know that I can NOT leave a flower "naked" without a bit of Shimmerz paint accenting them. Here I used Antique Lace Shimmerz for a perfect touch of sheen.
Supplies:
Shimmerz Rock-a-Fella Blue Spritz; Antique Lace Shimmerz; Noel Mignon Core Curriculum kit; bits and pieces of past Noel Mignon kits.

Doesn't she always make it look so effortless????? Gorgeous!

Next up is Daniela!! Talk about effortless! Here is a card that would surely brighten anyone's day!! Here is what she says about the new Fall colors!

Four new Vintage Shimmerz Colors: Antique Lace, Mossy Stone, Vintage Vine and Wed Wagon. In addition, we are introducing Shimmerz Spritz Miniz - adorable 1 oz. bottles: Licorice, Rockafella Blue and Treasured Hymn.
Make sure you check out Shimmerz Blog all week for wonderful project and ideas with the new colors. Our wonderful Education Team is hosting a VIDEO blog hop introducing new colors and awesome projects and ideas.

For my card I sprayed Licorice Shimmerz Spritz on the patterned paper before adhering it to the card. To speed up the drying process I used my heat gun. If the paper curls from being damp heat on the underside, as well. You don't need much to add shimmer to any project.

After I stamped the bird on patterned paper I cut it out and sprayed with Rockafella Blue.

For the flower I punched scalloped circles out of scrap paper and brown paper bag paper. I sprayed the circles with Licorice and Treasured Hymn. Others I painted with Mossy Stone using my paint brush. After I created the flower I sponged Wed Wagon on the edges. For the flower check out my tissue flower tutorial.

WOW!! Don't they knock your socks right off???? Gorgeous! Run...don't walk over to Daniela's blog to check out her flower tutorial! Isn't that such a beautiful flower??

Make sure to go on our video blog if you haven't already! I hope that you enjoyed what our OH SO talented Design Team served up today!! Come back tomorrow for another gargantuan portion of Shimmerz New Fall Releases!!

Thanks for stopping by today! Many Blessings~~ Danielle Wycough

Sneaking in a quick post

I just had to share that I love the new Licorice Shimmerz Spritz!!! I took a stark white large flower and sprayed it down and absolutely LOVED the result! See here. :) With Halloween quickly approaching, Licorice Spritz is a must have! Now, I could have made the flower darker by letting dry and reapplying, but this first round of spray came out perfect. Did I mention how fast it dried?? This is what I truly love about this product. I was able to glue the dry flower to my project within 1 minute of it being completely soaked of spritz. YEAH!

Thanks for letting me "sneak in" on your Friday with a quick post! I may not like Licorice candy, but I LOVE my Licorice Spritz!!

**How About Some Shimmerz Inspiration**

Hi everyone!! I'm Leslie Ashe & I thought I'd share some inspiration with you...
from Shimmerz! As I was looking at our very own gorgeous Danielle Wycough's blog,
I noticed she had the most  BEAUTIFUL candle holder. I just HAD to share with you!
Not only is she the DT Coordinator here at Shimmerz, she's the mom of 5 precious
children and how she has time to whip out these amazing creations...well, it's beyond me!
Just take a look at this:

Isn't this incredible? She said she found this candle holder in
a thrift store and it was rusty....rusty nothing! She's turned rusty into
a beautiful piece of art.

a bit close here you can see she's used a new fall vintage release color:
Vintage Wine. Underneath that she used a ton of crackle paint, acrylic paint,
Wed Wagon (another fall release) and antique lace.  You can see more of her incredible
artwork at her blog:  Danielle Wycough.  She's always SO inspiring and so
uplifting...

AND I just have to show you her layout!

I fell in LOVE with this layout! I love how she took a piece of her cardstock she uses
as a work mat for her other projects and used it as her background! GENIUS!
Just look at the different textures and colors. I could dive right in!

She used all of the new colors here.  Mossy Stone is around her picture and that butterfly is
loaded with Vintage Wine and Mossy Stone.  Isn't it gorgeous!

I also wanted to share with you a couple of projects I've done using Shimmerz:

First up is a layout I did for the Label Tulip kit club.  As you can see, I used a large
butterfly as a mask. I sprayed Eucalyptis all over the brown paper bag and painted the edges
of my layout AND the bag with Tickle Me Turquoise.

and on this layout I used Coal Shimmerz to paint my apple.  I wanted it to be a bit
brighter so I sprayed Concrete Shimmerz over it.  I LOVE how it turned out.

I also painted my letters. They were originally black. I wanted something
to stand out like my apple did.  I painted the letters coal and sprayed them
with Concrete.

I outlined my apple in Sunflower.  the dots are in Marigold.

Thank you SO much for letting me share inspiration with you today.
I hope  you have a VERY blessed day!

**Keep looking for inspiration this week from the fabulous Design Team!**
